Eleven more young graduates of H-SU have been
named to the Board of Young Associates.
The Young Associates board is made up of H-SU
alumni under the age of 40 and assists in financial
development and student recruitment for Hardin-
Simmons, aids in public relations efforts on behalf of
the University and helps plan and establish the
policies of the school through non-voting par-
ticipation on committees of the Board of Trustees.
New members are nominated by the Young
Associates as a whole, approved by University
President Jesse Fletcher and appointed by the Board
of Trustees.
The new members, elected Feb. 16, 1979 are:
Marylan K. Bacon, John A. Crawford, Lynn
Ingalsbe, John Lybrand, Ty Morris, Vic W. Rhoads,
Rex Don Roberts, Ridge Sewell, John Kenneth
Simons, Mary Lois Stedham and Dr. Bill Vermillion.
Dr. Vermillion graduated from H-SU in May, 1971
and currently is a physician practicing internal
medicine in Eastland. At Hardin-Simmons he
majored in biology with a minor in chemistry and
graduated summa cum laude.
While in school he was president of Alpha Chi,
won the biology award, the chemistry award, the
Julius Olsen medal and the Alpha Chi award and was
named to Who' Who.
He and his wife, Marsha, have two children, five-
year-old John Mark and two-year-old Bethann.
Mrs. Stedham was known as Mary Lois Patterson
during her H-SU days, graduating in May, 1969 with
a degree in speech with an English minor.
At H-SU she was a University Princess, a member
of student congress for four years and president of
Tri Phi and the Interclub Council. She was elected
to Who's Who, won the Minnie L. Anderson Award
and the speech award and was a member of Sigma
Tau Delta, concert choir, university band and the
Religious Activities Council.
She and her husband Mike (also an H-SU
graduate) live in Abilene and have two children;
four-year-old Meredith Lyn and one-year-old Nathan
Michael. She co-leads marriage enrichment retreats
with her husband and also does individual and
family counseling.
Simons, an August, 1970 graduate with a BBA in
business, is a field underwriter for New York Life
Insurance Company in Temple.
At H-SU he was selected as a Distinguished
Military Graduate, was commander of the Pershing
Rifles and was a member of Kappa Phi Omega. He
was on active duty in the U.S. Army for five years,
reaching the rank of Captain.TY MORRIS JR. VIC ROADS
. . church music. . heated planningHe and his wife, Deanna, have four children; 10-
year-old April, eight-year-old Alice, three-year-old
Donald and three-month-old Christopher, and live in
Temple.
In his business, he has received the National
Association of Life Underwriters National Quality
Award and National Sales Achievement Award and
is a member of the New York Life Top Club,
qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round
Table.
Sewell, a May, 1968 graduate with a BBA in
general business and economics, is now a banker in
Houston, having been with Houston National Bank
since 1970.
He is assistant vice president and trust officer in
the Stock Transfer Department of the bank.
At H-SU he was a member of the Cowboy Band
and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and active in religious
activities.
He and his wife, Janet, (also a graduate of H-SU)
have two children; nine-year-old Courtney Dawn
and six-year-old Christin Elizabeth.
His picture was not available for inclusion in this
issue of the Range Rider.
Roberts earned a bachelor's degree in music from
Hardin-Simmons in May, 1968 and is presently
minister of music and adult education at First
Baptist Church, McKinney.
At H-SU he was a member of the Pershing Rifles,
Tau Alpha Phi, Phi Mu Alpha, the ROTC rifle team
and Student Congress; served as ROTC Cadet
Company Commander; was selected outstanding
ROTC cadet and named to Who's Who.
He served three-and-a-half years with the 2/68th
Armour, 8th Infantry Division in Baumholder,
Germany, achieving the rank of Captain.
Presently he is a member of the Singing Men of
Texas, the Southern Baptist Church Music Con-
ference, Phi Mu Alpa and the Chamber of Com-
merce.
His wife, Carol Ann (Leavelle) also is an H-SU
graduate.
Rhoads took a business administration degree
from H-SU in August, 1972.
He is the executive director of the Tri-Region
Health Services Administration located in Abilene
which serves a 44-county, 44,000-square-mile area
and seeks to provide readily accessible, quality
health care as reasonable cost for the 620,000
residents of the area.
During his school days he was a member of Alpha
Kappa Psi and presently is a member of Rotary as

year-old Amy and five-year-old Callie.
Morris received a bachelor of music degree in
music education in May, 1967 and is presently
minister of music and youth at Crestview Baptist
Church in Midland.
At Hardin-Simmons he ran varsity track, was a
corps commander in ROTC, won the Anderson
Award, was named to Who's Who, was a
Distinguished Military Graduate and was a member
of the concert choir, Alpha Chi, Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia and the Rangers.
Presently he is a member of the Singing Men of
Texas and The Centurymen (sponsored by the Radio
and Television Commission of the Southern Baptist
Convention).
His wife's name is Linda.
Lybrand, an August, 1973 graduate in economics
and general business, is vice-president of First
National Bank in Dallas where he is a corporate
lending officer.
At H-SU he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega
and held three offices, including president, in the
Eta Chi Chapter of APO. He won the outstanding
service award from APO in 1972.
He and his wife, Delinda (an H-SU ex) live in
Dallas.
He is a member of the American Institute of
Banking, the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce
and the Dallas Mexican-American Chamber of
Commerce and is very active in fund raising for
charitable causes (including YMCA, United Way,
American Cancer Association and American Heart
Association).
Ingalsbe, a May, 1968 graduate in general
business, is a practicing attorney in Abilene already
having served as district attorney and judge of the
County Court at Law.
At H-SU he was a member of the Cowboy Band
and was in the ROTC program and presently is a
member of Kiwanis, the Abilene Young Lawyers
Association and the state and local bar
organizations.
He and his wife, Dottie (also a Hardin-Simmons
graduate) have two children; 11-year-old Todd and
seven-year-old Jill.
Crawford earned his BBA in business ad-
ministration and economics in August, 1970 and
today is president of John Crawford Firestone, Inc.
in Piano which operates two retail tire and
automotive service outlets in Plano and is also
