Ferguson place on the river. 1
took along one cradel. We cut,
bound and shocked six acres of
wheat. A very good yield. Had
about 272 dozen bundles. Came
home Wednesday evening. Very
tired tonight.
Thursday-Saturday, June 20-22.
Spent most of the time working on
the tax rolls. Warm and some rain
Thursday. Rained again Friday.
I pulled- up my English peas. Sent
mail out. Threshed out peas Satur-
day until the mail came in.
Sunday, June 23. Opened the
post office at 8 a. m. Sabbath
School at 9 a. m. Attended the
marriage of W. C. Patterson to Miss
Clara E. Vaughan at 4 p. m. at the
home of the bride’s father, Rheuben
Vaughan.
Monday-Saturday, June 24-29.
Spent the time working on my tax
rolls and doing the cooking and
work at home. Nancy has a felon
on her finger and is unable to do
much. Considerable rain during
the week. The Indians are doing
a great deal of mischief in the
country. We hear of some one be-
ing killed by them every few days-
Mr. C. S. Dobbs was killed by them
on Wednesday on the same night
all of my horses were taken by
them. It appears our troubles with
them will never cease. "Got the
mail out on Friday, and it came in
Saturday night.
Sunday, June 30. Was at the
post office a short time this morn-
ing. Went to Sabbath school at 9
a. m. Attendance good. 1 am
spending the afternoon at home
reading.
Monday-Friday, July 1-5. Spent
most of the time working on the
tax rolls. Have finished copying
them. It has been a tedious task.
Warren backed out on the proposi-
tion he agreed to and we had an-
other settlement, which brings me
$450 in his debt. I consider he
acted very ungentlemanly. Spent
most of Friday in the post office
working on the accounts and
straightening out the papers.
Saturday, July 6. Went to Mr.
Kyle’s and got two teams of him
and with his assistance, hauled two
loads of oats from the Ferguson
place. Very hot. There has been
rain every day this week, and is
still cloudy. The river is up so
that the mail did not go out.
Monday, July 8. Went to Kyle's
early and hauled two loads of oats
from Ferguson’s and stacked them
The Judge and members of the bar
came this afternoon.
Tuesday, July 9. District Court
in session today, but little business
transacted.
