"GIVE MEAT, POULTRY
AND DAIRY PRODUCTS"
MONTH PROCLAIMED
Carson County Judge Clarence
C. Williams has proclaimed the
month of December as "Give
Meat, Poultry and Dairy Pro-
ducts Month" in an effort to
bolster the sale of some farm
and ranch products that are
currently in an economic slump.
Signed November 26, 1974,
the proclamation by Judge Wil-
liams urges the giving of certi-
ficates for the purchase of those
products as holiday gifts. He
signed the proclamation in co-
operation with the local county
Farm Bureau and other groups
that are coordinating a cam-
paign encouraging the gift idea.
The proclamation notes that
selection of holiday gifts "often
poses problems". It says that
the statewide promotion of gift
certificates for meat, poultry
and dairy products "presents a
happy solution to this annual
dilemma", and added that the
giving of these foodstuffs "ex-
presses the true spirit of the
season".
These products are in abundant
supply at this time and are good
buys at the stores.
Judge Williams said the use of
the gift certificates "not only
solves the problem of what to
give, it also represents a timely
boost for producers of these es-
sential foods."
The campaign to encourage
the giving of certificates for
the purchase of meat, pountry
and dairy products is being co-
ordinated statewide by the Texas
Farm Bureau, Texas CowBelles,
Texas Department of Agricul-
ture and other groups. They are
providing the gift certificates
to stores which do not have their
own and are also furnishing color-
ful gift envelopes.
For those who wish to send a
check or money order, Farm
Bureau will provide an attrac-
tive message card explaining
the gift, idea along with a nice
gift envelope. These are avail-
able at the local county FB
office in Panhandle.
