“When you’re standing on the curb,
stand well back from the street and
don’t stand behind any cars in
driveways.

"Tell your Mom or Dad to look on
the label. Moot costumes sold today
are made of flame retardant
material. If your costume is
homemade, there are flame retar-
dant fabrics you can buy, and there
are chemicals which can be sprayed
or powdered onto other fabrics to
make them flame retardant.
"Don’t forget how to do "STOP,
DROP, and ROLL," just in case your
costume catches fire.
"Stop. Cover your eyes. Drop to the
ground and roll. That will put out the
fire, but running will just make it
burn faster
"This is the last safety rule. Don't
- do NOT - eat any candy until
you’ve shown it to your parents. Be
sure your Mom knows the Mom or
Dad who gives you any homemade
candy like divinity or fudge, boy do 1
like fudge, or any other which isn’t
wrapped. If store bought candy is un-
flaahlight, put some tin foil behind
the mouth and none and eyea, and the
outside lights will reflect on the tin
foil.
"There’s no reason to carry a can-
dle around, especially with a
costume and a mask all up around
your face. It’s dangerous.
"Every little kid should have some
reflective strips on his Halloween
costume, especially if it’s a dark col-
or. Someone in each group should
carry a flashlight, not a candle, and
everybody should stick close
