WHITE DEER NEWS
THURSDAY, JULY II, 1974
Weekly Message . . .
From Our W.D. Ministers
Rev. Ronald Ledbetter
First Baptist Church
It is a real shame that a per-
son's whole life can be destroy-
ed in a matter of a second by
gossip. This is one of Satan's
main tools in destroying a per-
son's witness for the Lord.
One reason we gossip is be-
cause if we hear somthing bad
on someone else it makes us
feel more righteous and even
superior. But the Bible says,
"For all have sinned, and come
short of the glory of God:"
Romans 3:23: we need to re-
member that even the redeem-
ed are saved only by the Grace
of God. Let me share with you
an incident I read about the
other day.
"I've gossiped about my ne-
ighbor, " the woman confessed
to her minister. "One day I saw
her staggering about in the yard,
so I told a few friends that she
had been drunk. Now I'find that
her staggering was caused by a
leg injury. How can I undo this
gossip I started?"
The minister excused himself
for a moment, returned with a
pillow and asked the woman to
follow him to a side porch. He
took'out a knife, cut a hole in
the pillow and emptied the fe-
athers all over the porch rail-
ing. A small breese soon scat-
tered tiny feathers all over the
street, heading for unknown
destinations. The minister
turned to the woman. "Will
you go out now and gather up
everyone of the feathers?" The
woman looked stunned.
"Why that would be impos-
sible! " "Exactly, " replied the
minister sorrowfully. "So it is
with your gossip. "
And your's also!
