Retirement Dinner Held
For Markham Waddill
A Retirement Dinner Party
was given last Thursday night
at T om's Country Inn in Pampa
for Markham Waddill, who
has recently retired as Tax
Assessor-Collector for the
White Deer Schools. The din-
ner was hosted by members of
the White Deer-Skellytown
Homemakers Club
Met Tuesday Afternoon
The Homemakers Club met
in the home of Mrs. Margaret
. Fox with M"s. Don Easley as
hostess on Tuesday afternoon,
September 5 with 11 in attend-
ance.
President Easley opened the
club meeting with the recitation
of a prayer by all the members.
Get-well cards were dispensed
to Mrs. Bill Wood, who is in
the North Plains Hospital in
Borger, Danny Wilemon who
is in the University Hospital in
Minneapolis, Minn, and Mr.
Jessee McCarthy at home in
Skellytown. Sympathy'cards
were sent to the J imHall family
on the death of his brother in
Michigan and to the C.L.
Smoot family on the death of
a sister in Arizona.
Mrs. Gertrude Huckins was
in charge of the games, with
Leila Cummings winning the
prize. Mrs. Ina Horst won the
hostess gift. Mrs. Miles Pear-
ston presented members with
momentoes of her trip to
Massachusetts and Hawaii.
Refreshments were served to
Eula Berry, Mary Cousins,
Leila Cummings, Margaret Fox,
Pauline Heaton, Ina Horst,
Gertrude Huckins, Irene McCoy,
Ethel Hunt, Mabie Pearston,
and the hostess, Mrs. Easley.
Absent were Agnes Hall and
Gladys Simmons.
The next meeting will be on
Sept. 19 at the Pearston residence
on Elm Street.
VISITS MRS. J.C. FREEMAN
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Watson of
Hooker, Okla, visited in Mrs.
J.C. Freeman home last Sunday,
Mr. John Mynear of White
Deer spent Labor Day visiting
in Skellytown with friends and
neighbors and old acquaintances.
BUCK BAND ELECTS
OFFICERS FOR YEAR
The Buck Band met in the
Band Hall on Thursday, Sept.
7 to elect band officers.
Band teacher, Wayne Herrell
presided over the meeting.

Mr. and M's. Edward Dit-
tberner have returned home from
a trip to South Fork, Colorado.

Luncheon Program
The Community citizens met
for their usual luncheon on
Thursday, September 7 at the
community center.
Those having birthdays in
September were Mrs. Pauline
Carey and Mr. Everett Williams.
The "Birthday Song" was sung
to them by the group attending.
The birthday people were
honored by being served first.
Mrs. Viola Coffee read the
poem"The White Magnolia
Tree" by Helen Deutsch. It
became a much loved poem
when Helen Hayes gave it
some time ago on a t. v. special.
The next week she received
300, 000 letters requesting a
copy of this beautiful poem.
Mrs. Opal Howard offered
the opening prayer before
lunch was served.

of Houston, sister of Mrs. Baten,
attended the luncheon.

from the Daughters of the Pion-
eers.
Visits In Skellytown
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sadler
from Park Hill, Oklahoma,
were recent guests in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Brown of
Cabot Camp. On Sa-turday
evening, Sept. 2, they were
honored with an anniversary
"dinner. Attending were Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Harmon and Nan
of Pampa, Mr. Allen Harmon,
Amy and Joe Ed of Lubbock,
Mrs. Elsie Groninger of Pampa, School Board.
