Open House Held
At Elementary School
A large crowd of parents,
grandparents and friends
turned out Monday even-
ing at 6:3O*pm for Open
House in the White Deer
Elementary School.
Open House is an annual
event in which parents
visit their children's home-
room to view their work.
Following the classroom
visitation everyone assem-
bled in the Elementary
Gym, where each class
presented various programs
of what they have been
learning in Physical Ed-
ucation under the direction
of Mrs. Bobbie Thomas.
Several of the students,
displayed their talents in
the art of juggling, which
they learned from a mag-
azine article, according
to Instructor, Bobbie Tho-
mas.
the Does track team will
travel to Liberal, Kansas,
for the Liberal Five-State
Relays.

Egg Hunt Winners
Approximately 2500 can-
dy eggs, plus a dozen prize
eggs, were spotted, retriev-
ed, and counted by about
170 pre-school through 4th
grade youngsters Easter Sun-
day at Buck Stadium. The
annual event was again
sponsored by the White
Deer Young Men's Associa-
tion.
As special guests for the
holiday afternoon were
twelve youngsters from St.
Ann's Childrens Home in
Panhandle. The visitors
were treated to refreshments
at the Parish Hall following
the egg hunt and before re-
turning to Panhandle. Two
of the young people took
home prize eggs containing
silver dollars.
Winning prize eggs were:
Donny Allison, White Deer,
Pre-school Division; Stacy
Whitehead, White Deer,
1st & 2nd Grade; and Ottis
Shadder, Panhandle, 3rd &
4th Grade.
Bunny Hop winners were:
Theresa Carsell, Panhandle,
First; Thomas Martinez,
White Deer, Second; and
Timmy Jones, White Deer,
Third.
The Young Men's Assoc-
iation sponsors several trap
shoots during the year to
raise the necessary funds
to enable them to host the
annual Easter egg hunt for
area youngsters.

Visit In Odessa
Mrs. Miller Hawpe, along
with her daughter, son-in-
law, the Mike Woods, and
children, Matt and Jamie,
and granddaughter, Wendy
Sherrill, all of Amarillo,
spent Easter Sunday in
Odessa with Mr. Miller
Hawpe where he is employ-
ed. Mrs. Hawpe remained
in Odessa for the week of
her vacation. The did
considerable sight seeing
in the area during the week
and returned to White Deer
on Saturday evening.

With Mrs. Rosier
The All-Around Home-
makers met Tuesday, April
5, 1983, at 10:30 a.m. in
the home of Celeste Rosier.
The meeting was called
to order by President Bev-
erly Warminski.
An opening exercise, "Com-
pleting the Analogy" was
led by Aloise Martin.
Roll was answered by an
inflation fighting tip.
Mrs. Warminski was elect-
ed as "Woman of the Year"
nominee.
A report on the tasting
tea held March 28 in Pan-
handle was given.
Members painted on cer-
amic Easter eggs which they
started during the previous
meeting.
Refreshments were served
to the following members:
Beverly Warminski, Cathy
Martinez, Angie Lopez,
Debbie Nicholson, Louise
Franks, Sam Kotara, Aloise
Martin, and the hostess,
Mrs. Rosier.
The next meeting will be
Tuesday, April 19 in the
home of Sam Kotara.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn E. Blewett of Canyon announce
the engagement of their daughter, Tammy Louise, to
Donnie Jack Bennett, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Benn-
ett of White Deer.
The wedding will be June 2, 1983, at the First Bap-
tist Church in Canyon.
Miss Blewett is a 1977 graduate of Canyon High
School and a 1982 graduate of West Texas State Uni-
versity. She is presently employed with the White
Deer School District as a physical science teacher and
junior high coach.
Bennett is a 1976 graduate of White Deer High School
and a 1980 graduate of W.TOS.U, He is presently
employed by Getty Oil Co. in Skellytown.
