Higher fuel costs for holiday
motorists this Yule season
(Houston, November 15,
1989)--Acoording to the latest
holiday fuel survey, the Amer-
ican Automobile Association
(AAA) says motorists will see
higher prices at the pumps when
compared with Thanksgiving 88’.
In a survey oonducted by Com-
puter Petroleum Corporation for
Triple-A, results show that prices
have increased since last year at
this time. Motorists will see an
average increase of 8 cents per
gallon at both the full and self
serve pumps.

On Thursday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 18 an
elite group of Ingleskle students caused an auditor-
ium rail of people to roll in the aisles, gasping for
breath. This group was the seniors under the direc-
tion of Ellen Bulge, who took part in this year’s
Senior Play.
Theplay, “All Because of Agatha", was a three act
comedy about the efforts of Agatha the witch, play-
ed by Jessica Blasingame, to rid her house of an
unwanted couple, Dun and Joan O’Hara, played by
Virgin Anderson and Cari McGowen.
Supporting roles in the performances were play-
ed by Jerry Uike, Stacy Gamble, Laura Mireles, Karl
Clausewitz, Lisa Donahue, John Boulanger and
Terri Andrews.
Some other participants, without whom the play
would not have been possible were Stage Managers
Danaiel Eskilson and Caroline Neil ana Stage Crew
Michele Rush and Veronica Enberg.
Many cast members, who were not so enthusias-
tic about opening night, were pleasantly surprised
at the sight of the packed auditorium and even more
surprised at the standing ovation offered by the
audience at the final curtain.

slight decreases in gasoline prices
since Labor Day, our last big
travel holiday. Prices have de-
creased an average of 2-3 cents
per gallon in the full and self serve
categories. Texas fuel prices
seem to be following national
trends.
According to CPC, wholesale
gasoline prices have succumbed
to the end of the traditional driv-
ing season and hurricane season.
Prices peaked the last week in
September and have been in a
downward trend since that time.
Availability for the Thanksgiv-
ing holiday is good, with 41 per-
cent of the stations surveyed
planning to operate 24 hours per
day and 68 percent planning to
provide service on the holiday.
Motorist should, as always, check
fuel supplies before traveling
onto long stretches of rural road-
ways and in the evening hours of
the holiday.
Motorists traveling out of state
and to cold weather climates are
reminded to winterize their vehi-
cles and to take emergency sup-
plies such as first aid kits and
portable snow shovels, and to
monitor weather conditions.

ARANSAS PASS HOME EXTENSION CLUB DONATED $100 to the local chapter of the American
Red Cross. Club President Maxine Lindley presented the check to local Red Cross Disaster Chairman
Charles McAdams. The funds will be used locally for disaster services. The Home Extension Club has
been quite generous with donations, recently donating to Tri-County EMS, the Aransas Pass Fire
Department, and providing funds for a local student to continue her 4-H projects.

Delivers warm air at a comfortable
temperature.
An efficient gas furnace docs a
better job ofheating your home
for less money. .
Typically 17-20 years-twice as
long as a heat pump.
MAINTENANCE
Natural gas furnaces are extremely
reliable and require minimum
maintenance.
Delivers air below body
temperature, feeling cool and
drafty.
An electric heat pump requires an
additional electric furnace for cold
winter weather, resulting in higher
operating costs.
-The heat pump runs both summer
and winter, so it typically lasts only
7 to 10 years.
Requires a back-up electric
furnace.
The heat pump costs more to
maintain since it operates year
’round.
