In Season Opener
The White Deer Bucks
open the 1981 football sea-
son Friday night against
Miami at Buck stadium.
Coach Eddie Richardson
speaking of the Miami team
said, "They have good size
and look really good for
15 boys. " He stated the
team is a lot quicker than
was thought at first. He
announced "We have our
work cut out for us, but I
feel really good going in-
to this game." As for the
game plan, Richardson
declared the Bucks will be
going for "three yards and
a cloud of dust early. "
Kevin Blodgett, Senior
nose guard and center, re-
turned to practice Monday
following a sprained ankle
about ten days ago.
Coach Richardson stated
the coaching staff observed
"better performance from
the junior varsity" during
the Booker scrimmage last
Thursday evening. He said
the team had better execu-
tion and tackling. He also
said the offensive line was
blocking a lot better.
He declared that the Book-
er varsity "definitely came
to us as far as the scrimmage
went. " He reported the
coaching staff is working
with the defensive ends and
free safeties to prevent the
end runs which Booker ex-
ecuted very well during the
scrimmage. He commend-
ed the whole Buck offen-
sive line on their blocking.
. Chad Grange and Chuck
Mitchell proved very effect-
ive at their defensive posi-
tions while Darren Bennett
and Austin Lafferty worked
equally well at the quarter-
back position.
Next week the Bucks will
be hosted by the Groom Tig-
ers.
