DELL VALLEY
Our deepest sympathy to Tom Chellis II and Tom Chellis III. We are
saddened to hear of the untimely death of wife and mother, Jeanell
Chellis. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom II and Tom III. Tom II
is County Attorney, Hudspeth County.
Alvin and Lola Gentry and Gerald and Terrie Gentry all
enjoyed family over the holidays. Trish, Perry Rowland, and
daughters Shawna and Jayme of Lubbock; and Clay and Tammy
Gentry from, Amarillo.
Dale and Kathy Flach had a nice visit over the holidays visiting
Kathy’s daughter and husband, Dana and Bill Dinis, in Denver,
Colorado, and Dale’s daughter and family, Peggy, in Montana. Dale
said the weather in both places was very mild.
Dell Valley’s weather has been on the chilly side in the mornings for
a few days. Strong winds prevailed on Sunday and Monday. El Paso
reported 50 mile- per- hour winds at the same time. It blew that hard,
or harder in Dell Valley dav and night.
We hope the weather will cooperate during this weekend’s Local
Livestock Show at the Fair Grounds, and that it will be a nice, calm,
sunny day. Sometimes it seems that Livestock Shows attract
disagreeable weather.
We were sorry to hear that Charles McCoy is seriously ill in a hospital
in Houston where he lives. Charles visited his Dad, Ray McCoy and
family during Christmas. His brother, Frank and daughters of El
Paso, were also out here. Also, another son, Talley and Corine, who
live in Dell City, joined the group for a nice get together. Talley and
Ray drove to Houston to be with Charles after Christmas. Our
thoughts and prayers are with Charles, Ray and families.
There has been a lot of flu in and around Dell Valley, and El Paso,
too. We wish all who are unfortunate enough to have the flu, will have
a speedy recovery. The main results seem to be a hoarse voice and
coughing.
Congratulations to Peter and Raymie Lynch who are very happy to
have a beautiful daughter who was born December 29 in Phoenix ,
Arizona. Her name is Claire Elizabeth. That’s the 3rd grandchild of
the Jack Lynch family to be bom in November and December 1999
Grandparents are Jack Lynch of Dell City, and Pona Lynch of
Prescott, Arizona.

Dell Valley Review
Dear Editor;
I am sending the amount required for a one year subscription to
your newspaper. Our family spent a year in the Dell Valley area doing
missionary work on the Triple R Ranch in Salt Flat. During that time we
met so many nice people at the schools, stores, and churches.
We would like to thank everyone there and wish everyone a happy
holiday. A special “thank you” to everyone from the Dummitt family in
southern Illinois. Wherever we are, our hearts will always be in Texas!
May God bless everyone in the Dell Valley.
Barry, Kathy, Lucas, Amanda, Jena & Jordan Dummitt

San Ysidro Church in new location...Communicants of the San
Ysidro Church here have begun holding their services in the nearly
completed new building located a half-mile east of the town-site
intersection, according to Reverend John Casey. The building which
is designed to be a bracero recreation center, and eventually
expanded into a complete church facility, contains a large hall that is
to be used for recreation purposes and a congregation assembly.
Deep well tests get under way ...in an effort to bolster the meager
water supply in the southwest section of Hudspeth County. Several
deep-test water wells are to be drilled, it was announced this week
by Ray McCoy who owns property in that section. The first
exploration well is to be drilled 2800 feet on the B. E. Walker holdings
in the vicinity of McNary. Two more wells of lesser depth are
planned. Explorations are part of a broad-range attempt to put back
into cultivation many acres of land that have had to be abandoned
because of the shrinking of the river water supply .
Rev. E. J. Hollis, pastor of the First Baptist Church, was flown to El
Paso Sunday morning after he reported he was too ill to conduct the
regular service. George McConnell and Burt Brownfield took him in.
His parishioners, deprived of services in their own church, moved in
a body to the regular morning worship of the Methodist congregation
being held in the Community Center building,
TOP TIP
A diner at Trattoria Spiga restaur-
ant in Costa Mesa, California, chose
to register her disapproval over what
she considered to be substandard ser-
vice by leaving a one-cent tip, which
she wrote in on her credit card slip.
Speaking of slips, when the diner
received her bill, the tip showed as
$10,000! The restaurant apologized
and suspended the waiter for a week.
"I knew I should have left cash," la-
mented the diner.
