Parents of the bride elect
are C. L. Nicholson of
Amarillo and Mrs. Craig
Stone of Amarillo. The
prospective bridegroom is
the son of Mrs. Mildred
Cason of Lamesa.
The bride-elect is em-
ployed by Colorado State
Gas Co. in Amarillo. Her
fiance is employed by Mc-
Guire Industries in Midland.

The Groom Tigers and
Tigerettes were the winners
but the points made failed
to show the intensity with
which the Skellytown
Panthers and Pantherettes
played on Thursday even-
ing, January 24 in the
Birthday.
Happy Birthday greetings
are extended for the coming

Skellytown Gym.
The Seventh Grade Tigers
met the Panthers at 5:15 pm
During the first half the
Tigers trailed the Panthers
by four points. In the third
quarter by two, in the
final quarter the Tigers forged
ahead to win by four points.
Final score was Groom 31,
Skellytown 33. Panther
Cagers making points were
Will Brown with^l8, Glen
Wise-6; Randy Wise-4;
Doyle Garrison-4; and
Mike Walden-1.
The Tigerettes defeated
the Pantherettes by a run-
away margin. The Tigerettes
made twenty points to 0
for the Pantherettes during
the first quarter. They
continued to remain ahead
during the rest of the game.
Final score was Groom-49
to Skellytown-22.
Pantherette Cagers in-
cluded Marijane Ramirez
with 5 points; Randi Matson
with 4f Kathy Hassler-4;
Debbie Lymburner-4; Lori
Marlar and Sissy Gideon

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sangster Contest held recently in
of Pampa announce the Denver, Colorado. Her
birth of a daughter, Jennifer calf placed first in Sayre,
Ann on Tuesday, January 22 Okla, second in Okla. City
in the Highland General
Hospital. She weighed 7
pounds, 8 ounces. She has
an older brother Ricky.

Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Mc-
Carthy were in Pampa on
Sunday to attend the birth-
day observance of their
son Ronald Terry McCarthy
hosted by his wife. He was
presented two birthday cakes.

Terry James McCarthy,
Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Mc-

Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Mc-
Carthy received word of
the death of their daughter
Mrs. Jo Lindsey in Ring-
wood, Oklahom.a on Friday.
She was buried on Sunday.
Due to ill health and the
inclement weather the
McCarthy's were unable
to attend.
Mrs. Dorothy Thompson
has returned from a ten
day visit with her son and
his wife, Mr. and Mrs.
Michael Thompson and
their new son, Michael
Seth, who was born on
Wednesday, Jan. 16 in a
Marlin Hospital. Grand-
parents are Rev. and Mrs.
Milton Thompson of
Skellytown,. Mr. and
Mrs. James Odle, Albu-
querque, N. M. and Rev.
and Mrs. R. Copeland of
Groom.
Michelle Thompson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Bobby Thompson of Sweet-
water, Okla, and the
granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Dan Holloway of
Skellytown, placed fourth
in the 4-H Livestock Judging
Miss Thompson placed
over a number of mal e
contestants. She is a
seventh grade student in
the Sweetwater Jr. High
School.
Mrs. Floyd McCoy was
hostess at a dinner honoring
her husband Floyd on his
birthday on Saturday even-
ing. Most of the family
members were present.
Joe Don Brown was
honored with a bowling
party in honor of his birth-
day on Saturday evening,
Jan. 19 in Pampa with his
parents as hosts. The group
returned to 200 Popular
for cake and homemade
ice cream. Guests attend-
ing were Will Brown, Jason
Marlar, Laura Mills, Miss
Frances Metzler, Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Fox, Chris and
Dawn Marie, Roy Lynn
McClendon, Mike Walden,
Grandparents Mr. and Mrs.

Welcome Back to Mrs.
Frank McCullough as the
Skellytown Elementary
School Secretary who has
been on a leave of absence
Mrs. Pat Lowe filled in
for her while on leave.
Due to the inclement
weather on Monday evening
only five persons were in
attendance for the weekly
meeting of the Tops Club.
Leader Leila Cummings
opened the meeting. Odell
Hassler led the club in
the Fellowship Song. Mem-
bers recited the pledge.
Ms. Hassler was crowned
weekly Queen with a 3 lb.
weight loss. Members
present were Fannie Cole-
man, Lorena Cowan, Leila
Cummings, Odell Hassler
and Juanita McCarthy.
Mayor and Mrs. P. M.
Cousins returned from a
short visit with their son
and his family, Mr. and
Mrs. Peter M. Cousins, Jr.,
J. C., and Dallas Diana
in Lamar, Colo. While
there they helped Dallas
Diana celebrate her second
birthday. A days festivities
was planned by her parents.
