Glenn, from the newspa-
per will be keeping time.
No profanity, vulgarity
or disparaging com-
ments about candidates
will be tolerated from
speakers or anyone in
attendance. This is not a
debate. Each candidate
will be allowed ten min-
utes to speak. Time will
strictly be enforced.
County Attorney can-
didates will speak first,
followed by the candi-
dates for Precinct 3
can-
didates for Sherriff. If
Friday, there is anyone present
who is running for
one of her biggest moti-
vators. "She wanted to
run and she did, but I
think what gave her the
determination was she's
so little and short, she
didn't think she could."
said Marie's grandmoth-
er, Terry Dulin. She went
on to say that she always
medaled but when she
placed at regionals, she
recalled Marie running
up, grinning ear to ear
and saying, "See, I told
you I could do it!" While
there was never any
doubt she could, from
herself or her grandpar-
ents, winning just
proved she had the tal-
ent, but also the determi-
nation. That talent and
determination led her to
be a two-time regional
qualifier and competitor
and 2015 State qualifier.
While many think that
high school athletes only
train during school hours
or practices, that is not
the case for Marie. "Oh
no, I train outside of
school," said Marie with
a laugh and smile. She
usually starts by stretch-
ing and getting her body

Long time paper deliv-
ery man, David Joe
Smith, is retiring from
the Coleman Chronicle
and DV. David started
working at the tender
age of 8, in 1956, under
Roy Autry Sr. He sought
out the job just to make a
little pocket change, to
meet new people and
because he simply
thought it would be fun.
David always had sto-
ries to tell about his
adventures and one of
them included the Hi-
rise apartments. He
recalls being stuck in the
elevator for some time
due to a malfunction. He
was nervous that the ele-
vator might drop down
to the ground level!
The decision to retire
was a hard one for him
to make, but due to
health problems he
decided it would be bet-

you all have seen the

pride as he, along with
his wife, Terry Dulin,

fundraising, to help off

Last Saturday I had a
chance to chat with the
athlete about this oppor-
tunity, what it means to
her and how she got
there. This long incredi-
ble journey began in 7th
grade for Marie, when
Coach Thompson saw a
natural ability in her.
Marie is not as tall as
most runners on her
team and this has been

Coleman is going to
Australia, well, Marie
Rosales, sophomore at
Coleman High School, is
anyway. Marie, a 15 year
old native to Coleman,

ter for him to take it He also won't have to get
easy. He is going to miss up early on Wednesday
being out and about and mornings anymore,
talking to people, but Everyone from the
plans to relax and catch newspaper thanks him
up on some TV shows, for his years of service
warm, all while visualiz-
ing a course in her mind.
Focusing on her breath-
ing is a main goal and to
always finish the course
she set out for herself.
She recently placed 1st
in her category in
Coleman's 5k "Gobble
Wobble."
Receiving the invitation
to run in Australia was a
shock to Marie. "I never
saw it coming!" she said.
Over 10,500 children
across the US have been
invited, but only one
from Coleman. Marie
will be running two 5ks,
with the terrain mostly
being flat with one small
hill, at the end of June in
Australia. You can prob-
ably catch Marie around
town jogging and going
up the "hill" to prepare.

her performance. No one

or miss an interception.
This is a large load to
