Ellis of Carlsbad, N.M.; her moth-
er, Aldene Riggs of Levelland; and
nine grandchildren.

day in the George C. Price Funeral
Chapel with Dr. Steve Vernon,
pastor of First Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Resthaven
Memorial Park of Lubbock under

She died at 4 pm. Friday in
Lubbock Methodist Hospital after
a sudden illness.
She was bom in Rosebud and
had been a resident of Levelland
since 1935, moving there from

Odessa; a brother, J.E. "Ed" John-

Murphy of Lubbock, Elsie Branton
of Norman, Okla., Annie Hays of
New Mexico and Rovena Palmiter

basic training at Recruit Training
Command in San Diego, Calif.
During the cycle, recruits are
taught general military subjects
designed to prepare them for
further academic and on-the-job
training in one of the Navy's 85
occupational fields.
Studies include seamanship,
close-order drill, naval history, and
first aid.
Although the Na

aircraft and high tech systems in
today's fleet require bright, talent-
ed young men and women to
operate them. The Navy has over
60,000job openings this year, most
of which include guaranteed
training.
