and potential, and care for
yourself, your family and your
community," he told his youthful
audience, packed into SPC’s Tom
T. Hall Production Studio in the
Creative Arts Building.
Brito had been in jail and on
drugs when he dropped out of
school. "School was on the back
burner, and I didn’t take it
seriously," he said. "That was
the worst mistake I ever made."
However, he managed to get
his GED a few years later and
decided to go to college. "I
decided that is what I wanted to
do. It is possible to get an
education if you really want iL"
He was 30, married and the
father of four children when he
entered Texas Tech University.
He got his bachelor’s degree four
years later.

Pep exes celebrate
annual homecoming
Pep’s 34th Annual Ex-Students
Homecoming was held in the Pep
Parish Hall. Saturday, Jan. 29, with
95 people registering. The theme
was "A Life Time of Friendship."
The hall walls were decorated with
blue numbers of the classes having
reunions and tables were covered
in white with blue ribbons along
with annuals of these years on the
tables.
Master of Ceremonies was Gary
Albus, a former Pep student, who
< lives in Lubbock. Tne Rev. Father
Elbert Fadailan, pastor of the Saint
Philip Neri Church, gave the
invocation and benediction. Wel-
come was given by William Albus
of Morton. The speaker was
Eusebio (CB) Baiza, a former Pep
student, of Lubbock. He spoke
about his time in Pep School and in
the community, his works in
different towns and of small
communities compared to large
cities.
The business meeting was held
by President Maloy Simnacher.
Minutes of 1993 meeting and
treasurers report was given by
Diana Dolle. Classes having
reunions gave reports of their
group meetings.
The meal was prepared by
Linda Sehon and Margie Wood.
Scholarships of $400 were
awarded to Melissa Gerik of
Morton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
