NEW ULM ENTERPRISE
Published every Thursday by
LOUIS O. MUENZLER.
NEW ULM, TEXAS, Nov. 13, 1919.
The Year Swinging By.
The opening of 1919 seems
chse, but already the wise ones
are counting the year dead, and
making their plans for the new
hones of a new year. What lies
behind, is oast and gone, and it
behooves us all to follow in the
wake of the successful men of af-
fairs who arenow preparing their
next year’s work.
There is something pathetic in
the numberless disappointed as-
pirations of the individuals who
make up the world. Along the
year of 1919, as in the years of
the ages past, they lie scattered
everywhere. Bright hopes and
pleasant anticipation of the year
have turned, in some instances,
to ashes, and the dream of the
last fall remains a dream in the
mind of the thinker, unfilled,
and with one more year on its
way.
The new year, bringing new
hopes, and countless resolutions,;
will come into being as the others
before us. It too will be the
Wn a r k i t s p r o g less 111 i
mate hopes, dash-
ect to death upon the cold gray
rocks of material reality. But
it will see some new progress for
mankind and it will give to other
thousands brighter prospects,
better lives and wonderful exis-
tence.
Time is a wonderful thing, heal-
ing sorrows and revivifying life.
Let us all make the most of the
years as they come, content to
look back at the months of the
present year, and those of the
past, as times of very pleasant
living upon the earth which the
Lord God has given us to dwell
upon. Let us dream bright
dreams for each future year, for-
getting the failures of the years
behind. Let us maintain serene
faith in the blessing which must
come to those who are steadfast
in the fight.
Thanksgiving day, this year,
should find us once again turn-
ing our eyes unto Heaven, with
grateful praise for the joys of
life and the blessings of peace-
ful existence.

Only a Cold.
Are you ill? is often answered—
“Oh! it’s only a cold,” as if a -col-
was a matter of little consequence
but people are beginning to learn tha
a common cold is a matter not to hr
trifled with, that some of the most
serious diseases start with a cold. A.
soon as the first indication of a cold
appears take Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy. Remember that the sooner
you get rid of your cold the less dan-
ger, and this remedy will help you
to throw it off.
Constipation.
Most laxatives andcathai tics affo; d
only temporary relief and should be
used only for that purpose. When
you want-permanent relief take Cham-
berlain’s Tablets and be careful to
observe the directions with each
package. These tablets not. only-
move the bowels, but improve the ap-
petite and strengthen the digestion.
