Educational Co-op, recently gave a
professional prcscntat.on at The
Council for Exceptional Children’s
7()th Annual Convention held in
Baltimore, Maryland.
The well-received session was
entitled 'Integration and Interac-
tion and was presented on April
13. It was one of 6(X) sessions
selected from over 1.200 submis-
sions llie week-long convention
also included two general sessions,
workshops, and commercial
exhibits that drew over 5,000
attendees from across the United
States, Canada, and several other
countries.
The Council for Exceptional
Children (CEC) is an international
organization whose over 50.(XX)
members serve the millions ot
children who come under the
umbrella of special education. The
Council was founded in 1922 and
is comprised of teachers, admini-
strators, teacher trainers, and
associated professionals who work
with children who have physical or
mental disabilities or who are
gifted and talented.
Ross is a member of the Coun-

Horse project activities set
All 4 H members in Hockley
County interested m participating
in the summer activities of the 4-H
Horse Project group need to call
Jell Major or Joe Rail at the Coun-
ty Extension office. Activities of
[lie horse project group arc co-
ordinated by the Silver Spurs 4-H
Club in Levelland and arc open to
all 4-H members in the county.
Mounted horse practice is
currently being held at the Soulh
Plains College arena at 6 30 p.m
every other Tuesday. The next
practice will be Tuesday, May 5th.
Silver Spurs 4-H is sponsoring a
County 4-H Horse Show at the
Soulh Plains Arena on Saturday,
May 30 beginning at 9 a m. with
registration.
Silver Spurs is also sponsoring a
Horsemanship School at the South
Plains Arena June 11 13 and a
Hockley County 4-H can be both
fun'and educational. There is no
cost to join 4-h, so call the County
Extension Office at 894-3159
today if you are not already involv-
ed in the 4-h Program," said Major
Team Roping School at South
Plains College June 25-27. Inter-
ested youth need to call the Exten-
sion office or Silver Spurs Club

The District 4-H Horse Show
will be held at the fairgrounds in
L,ubbock on June 15. All interested
youth -- especially those who
participate in the first Annual
Horse Showmanship Class at the
Hockley County Slock Show in
March -need to plan on participat-
ing m this horse show to represent
Hockley County Just call Jen or
I Joe al the Extension Office to sign
up for this activity.
The lop 25 riders from District
will compete at the State 4-H
Contest July 19-25 at Abilene. The
last activity that the Hockley
County 4-H Horse Project Group
w ill partis ipate in this summer will
be a trail ride for all 4-H members
and their families. Dale and
location of the trail ride will be
announced at a later dale.

Representatives of the Lubbock
Production Credit Association
(PCA) were among more than 250
attenders at the Farm Credit Bank
of Texas Annual Meeting for
PC As, according to association
President Bill Harmon.
The annual stockholders event
was held April 23rd-24th in Aus-
tin.
Local PCA directors and staff
who attended included Mr. and
Mrs. Dalton Redman of Morton,
Mr. and Mrs. E M Hammonds, Jr
of Tahoka. Mr and Mrs. Dewey
Wells of Ralls, Dr J Wayland
Bennett and Mr. and Mrs Bill
Harmon ot Lubbock.
In addition to reports from bank
management and directors on 1991
operations and 1992 plans, the
program featured Dr William I .
Staats, professor of banking and
finance at Louisiana State Univer-
sity. A well known expert on
finance, Staats stressed the impor-
tance of motivation and team work
in his keynote remarks.
During ceremonies Eridav
evening, Lubbock PCA was
presented the Farm Credit Ach-
ievement Award The award is the
highest rating possible from the
Farm Credit Bank of Texas and this
is the fourth consecutive year for
the association to receive the
award
The Lubbock PCA has $43
million in short-and intermcdiatc-
term agricultural loans to fanners
and ranchers in nine counties.
