Exact dates and times
were announced this week
for the new programs in
Nurses Aid and Medica-
tion Administration at San
Jacinto College South.
Both programs also
have been officially ap-
proved by the Texas Edu-
cation Agency, announced
Richard Robinson, direc-
tor of Occupational-Tech-
nical Education at the
South Campus.
The nurses aid program
will meet on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 7 to 10
p.m. and will run for 16
weeks. The medication ad-
ministration program will
be held on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 7 to 10
p.m. for 10 weeks.
Both programs will use
the licensed vocation nurs-
ing facilities at the South
Campus and will be taught
by qualified registered
nurses.
The program will begin
with registration on Jan.
We’re one year old and we’d like to
thank our customers for your rapport
during our successful year. We have
succeeded together and that calls for a
celebration. During our first year our
deposits have grown to $11,764,000
and we have more than 6,700 accounts.
There are plenty of jobs
available for nurses aids in
the Houston area. Every
nursing home we contact-
ed needs a nursing aid.”
Robinson said. "After 16
weeks in the program you
can get a job.”
The medication admir
istration course is design-
ed for nurses aids who
want to upgrade their
skills. Robinson said. The
course consists of 60 class-
room hours and 10 hours
in a nursing home.
The course will stress
calculating doses of medi-
cation) administration of a
drug, its affects on the
individual patient; and
special precautions in ad-
ministration.
Additional information
on these courses is avail-
able bv calling 484-1900.
