Southeast Church of Christ
raises over $ 1 million
A total of SI, 140,000
has been raised for the
Southeast Church of
Christ to build a new
auditorium and remodel
the present auditorium
and office buildings.
The fund-raising drive
was the result of joint
efforts on the part of lit-
tle children, teenagers,
college students, the
singles, young married
couples, retired people,
those in the prime work-
ing years of their lives,
widows in nursing
homes, former mem-
bers. and other outside
the congregation.
Eighty-nine teens and
young children gave
gifts ranging from 22
cents to $2,000 for a total
of $11,313.58.
The drive was a broad
based almost total con-
gregational-wide pro-
gram. Every member
was encouraged to be in-
volved. Commitments
began to be made sever-
al months ago when eld-
ers and finance and
building committees
first expressed their
pledge. The following
week deacons of the
church made committ-
ments. Four dinner
meetings were held and
one general meeting to
explain the details of the
building, the financing
and how gifts could be
made.
Gene Polvado, minis-
ter of the church, reports
that contributions came
in the form of cash,
pledges, property gifts,
automobiles and borrow-
ed money.

Xmas concert
The Bay Area Chorus
is concluding prepara-
tions for its Fifteenth
Annual Christmas Con-
cert in the NASA Audi-
torium at 4 and 8 p.m. on
Dec. 9.
The public is invited to
enjoy an evening of sea-
sonal music by com-
posers from several cen-
turies under the direc-
tion of Dr. Ray Moore.
Besides a Bach Christ-
mas Cantata the'Chorus
will sing lighter Christ-
mas favorites like
"Chestnuts Roasting on
an Open Fire.”
Plans are in full swing
for the Chorus' Europe-
an Tour next summer.
One of the fund raising
projects is a raffle of a

Christmas tree ornaments of all sizes. And we've
locked the secret number away in our trusty vault.
The person guessing closest to the actual
number wins a 8100 savings account.
Second-closest gets SOO.
Third-closest wins 825
So, if you’re 14 yean old or younger, and if you’d
like to try your luck, just ooms by the bank. Bring
your best estimating eye — and your calculator, too,
if it’ll help. Look at the hopper from all aides. Take as
long as you like
Then, get an official entry form and write down
the number of ornaments you figure are in the
hopper.
Turn it in. But don’t tell anybody what you've
guessed.
The only thing left to do is come back on Satur-
day (December 1, at 11:30) and find out if you won.

in Christinas as only children can. Come join us.

Write your letters to Santa this wesk. Then on
Saturday morning bring your letter to the bank and
visit with Santa — in person! Hell be here between
10 o'clock and noon.
Just before noon, Santa will draw six of these let-
ters out of his mail bag. Those six children will win
early Christmas presents.
