HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1 WHEREAS, Johnnie LaPrade is concluding her tenure as mayor of 2 East Tawakoni at the end of May 2019, drawing to a close more than 15 3 years of public service to the community; and 4 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Dallas, Johnnie LaPrade resided 5 in the Mesquite area for 18 years before arriving in East Tawakoni 6 in December 1983; she is retired from an 18-year career with Madix, 7 where she worked as a customer service assistant manager and 8 supervisor; and 9 WHEREAS, Mayor LaPrade's interest in civic affairs led her to 10 run for a seat on the East Tawakoni City Council, which she served 11 as mayor pro tempore for three years until assuming the office of 12 mayor in 2011; she has further benefited East Tawakoni residents as 13 a member of the Economic Development Corporation and the Spirit of 14 East Tawakoni fund-raising committee, and she has ably represented 15 the community and Rains County on the East Texas Council of 16 Governments; moreover, she is a former vice president and current 17 city ambassador for the Rains County Chamber of Commerce, and she 18 also serves on the Rains County Historical Commission; and 19 WHEREAS, Mayor Johnnie LaPrade has demonstrated a lasting 20 commitment to making East Tawakoni an even better place in which to 21 live, work, and raise a family, and her contributions have earned 22 her the deep and lasting respect of her fellow citizens; now, 23 therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas
