Leggett, Healy-Roth Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, January 23,
2003 at Levelland Nursing Home.
She was bom October 26, 1924
in Little Rock, Arkansas. She
resided in Little Rock until 1997
when she moved to Level land. She
was married to Paul Bruton on
September 5, 1946 in Hollywood,
California. He died in 1996.
She was a homemaker and a
Baptist.
She is survived by two sons:
Bill Bruton of Little Rock,
Arkansas and Robert Bruton of
Hensley, Arkansas; a daughter,
Robin Werenko of Levelland; and
three grandchildren: Adam Bruton,
Michelle Mitchell and Aaron
Werenko.
Taste of Levelland
set February 6
Where can you buy a meal for
$5 that includes chicken strips, fish,
shrimp, quesadillas, bean burritos,
pizza, chili, dessert, drink and much
more? That’s what the Taste of
Levelland is offering this year at the
Levelland High School Commons
on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 5:30 p.m.
to 7:30 p.m.
Annually, the Hockley County
Literacy Council with the coopera-
tion of local food vendors and res-
taurants invites the community to
participate in a fond raiser to pro-
mote literacy in the area. Food
vendors and restaurants provide the
food and service.
Money raised through the sale
of tickets is used by the Literacy
Council to furnish GED scholar-
ships to eligible and deserving stu-
dents. Funds are also used to pro-
vide staff, books, and materials.
Country/western
dance class offered
South Plains College in
Levelland will offer a country
western dance class beginning Jan.
28.
The class will meet 7-8:30 p.m.
Tuesdays through March 11 in the
Sundown Room of the Student
Center.
Don Hunnicutt, who has a
dance studio in his home in
Lubbock, will teach the two-step,
waltz, cotton-eyed joe and
schottische.
Cost is $25 per person.
"Each night, participants will
learn new steps and patterns,
including spins and turns," said
Hunnicutt. "Bring a friend for a
mixer dance class that is lots of
fun."

Alton (Pete) of Ropesville and
Roger of Shallowater; four daugh-
ters, Lois Wynn, Noma Evans, and
Pat Littrell, ail of Lubbock, and Sue
Humble of Snyder; 16 grandchil-
dren; 37 great-grandchildren; and
eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials
to a favorite charity.
Annual Rotary
chili supper
slated Tuesday
The Level land Noon Rotary
Club is hosting its annual Chili
Supper next Tuesday in the
Levelland High School Commons.
The supper is scheduled in
conjunction with the Levelland
Lobo and Loboette basketball
games against Andrews teams.
The chili supper will be served
between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Admission is $3.50 for all
plates. Pre-school children will be
admitted free.
Homemade desserts will also be
available.
The chili supper is the club’s
largest fund raising event. Proceeds
benefit its charitable projects,
including youth scholarships and
leadership awards.

He died Jan. 22,2003 in Midland.
He was bom Dec. 27, 1982 in

Levelland High School in 2001 and

Voice for Fun class
to begin Monday
Voice for Fun, a short course
for those who want to learn to sing
or improve their singing voice,
begins Monday (Jan. 27) at South
Plains College in Levelland.
Instructor is Ruby Moultrie,
assistant professor of music at SPC.
Private lessons will be arranged
throughout the semester at a cost of
$ 125 for half-hour lessons or $250
for one-hour lessons.
Students will learn how to
support the voice, work on breath
control and improve diction. "The
only requirement for this class is a
desire to sing," said Moultrie.
