was given to each competi-
tor and they had 10 minutes
to create a menu, two hours
40 minutes to cook and 10
minutes to plate.
“I believe this is a
confidence booster,”
Chief Warrant Officer 2
Norberto Salas, former
advanced culinary instructor
and now senior food service
advisor, 1st BCT
“These Soldiers are
an opportunity to use
creativity,” he said. Salas
also one of the judges for the
competition.
“Every time we afford a
Soldier the opportunity to
display their culinary skills,
it breaks the monotony,”
Thomas said. “I love com-
petitions like this. These Sol-
diers cook on a daily basis
but have to follow a recipe
card that they cannot deviate
from, but while on competi-
tion mode, they get to show
off and show out.”

Hi
On Sept. 27, after months of hard
work, troopers from the 1st Air Cav-
alry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, were
recognized by Maj. Gen.
Douglas Chalmers, III
Corps and Fort Hood dep-
uty commander for sup-
port (U.K.), and present-
ed the Supply Excellence
Award at Hood Army Air-
field.
The award was present-
ed to Sgt. 1st Class Col-
leen Kildoo, the Brigade
S4 NCOIC, in the AACB
Headquarters conference
room.
“This award is the result
of some long work days
and a dedicated attention
to detail,” Kildoo said.
The SEA program cel-

ply operations, property
accountability and resource management taught me

Command Supply Discipline Program.
The competition is conducted in two
phases. In the first half, brigades send
in a list of documents to be reviewed
by a panel. In the second half, two bri-
gades are chosen out of the entire Army
and a panel does an on-site
inspection to determine an
overall winner.
Chalmers visited the
Air Cav. personally to
commend Kildoo on her
accomplishment and pres-
ent her the award.
Kildoo thanked the
other sections of S4 for
their support throughout
the process and stepping
up in their duties to give
her the time she needed to
prepare for the inspection.
“It’s one of the most
stressful things I have done
in my Army career,” Kil-
doo said. “The knowledge
I gained in preparing my
section for the inspection
some things even I didn’t
