Mr. T. A McGalliard. Assist-
ant Organizer of Farmers’ Insti
tutes for the State Department
of Agriculture, visited Nocona
last Friday and Saturday. But
on account of the Chautauqua
being in progress did not make
any public address. He was a
pleasant visitor at The News
office, however, and in the course
of an interview gave us some
pointers that be would have made
in his address. He said that
though fruit jars and cans are
high, is no reason why every
thing cannot be saved. He said
to “dry it." Dry cabbage, tur-
nips, beans, peas, in fact any
kind of vegetables or fruit,
including berries, etc. All kinds

The farmer, storekeeper, workman, and even the

improved methods and modern machines.
Yet many of these men are indifferent to the hard
work done every day by woman of the house. It has
not occurred to them to lighten her burdens—chief of which Is
the hard, exhaustive labor of washing the scrub board way or

Below we give some extracts
from a letter from Mr M. E
Warren, who now lives'at Exeter,
California, to Mr. C McCall of
the Farmers & Merchants Na
tional Bank. This letter is from
a prince among men, a genuine
patriot, a man who went through
with four long years of war. and
now that he is nearing the four-
score line says: “We are living
in perilous times and I feel that
it is the duty of every American
to do their part. I can’t go with
my age, but I must help So,
will, if my finances will allow,
buy $1,000.00 worth of the Liber
ty Loan Bonds. So please make
up a statement of my cash on
hand as it is or likely to be within
the next 30 days. I want to buy
these bonds therj at my old
home. I must stand by our
President, and by my home and
my country. I am ready to put
all I have on earth for our rights
and liberty. Son do all that you
erfn to defend our Country. Let’s
do our duty like men, as our
fathers did and your father did
before us. We must win or
serve German task masters.”
The News might add that to
date the total amount subscribed
to the Liberty Loan Bonds is
$4,100.00 through the Farmers &
Merchants National Bank and
$3,700 00 through the Nocona
National Bank. The Farmers &
Merchants Bank subscribed
$5,000.00 on the very first call.
Nocona ought to beat this several
times over.
