Handy Household Hints
For insurance purposes, take
photographs of all your posses-
sions and keep them in a metal
box or in a safe-deposit box.
Then, if anything is lost, stolen
or destroyed, you’ll have proof
of having had them.
A sprinkling of dry baking soda
before vacuuming will freshen
carpeting as well as any com-
mercial carpet deodorizer.
For stained grout between floor
tiles try rubbing the area lightly
with folded sandpaper.
When cold weather comes, do
you want to prevent frost from
forming on your windows? Add
1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol or
antifreeze to each quart of wash
water. Or, moisten a cloth with
glycerin and mb it across the
insides of the windows.
Store videocassettes away from
direct sunlight, excessive heat,
moisture, and the strong mag-
netic field that’s present on top
of the TV or stereo speaker.
Assign each child in the family
a shelf or two of a bookcase for
his or her favorite books. Make
it a family tradition to add a spe-
cial book at each gift-giving oc-
casion.
