From an attendance standpoint
the State Fair of Texas is the

lad and a good student. He
shipped his dad. His dad
everything a man ought to be and
Ralph struggled to be the son he
felt his dad should have. Ralph
had many doubts about himself.
He knew he wasn’t all his dad
thought he was and he’d wake in
the night with the terrible fear
that his dad had found out how
he really was. It was all he could
do not to scream out.
Then today there’d been a
math test. Ralph couldn’t do the
tilled problem and he’d leaned
over and copied it from Bill’s
paper. He hated himself for
cheating — this much he knew.
What he didn't know was tiiat
he hated his fattier for holding
him up to standards he found it
so difficult to meet.

Ralph thought he adored his fa-
ther, and he did with the top of
his mind but underneath was a
deep resentment that he couldn’t
be just himself, that he had to
live up to what he thought was
his father’s image of him.
Ralph's dad didn’t know this
either. Ralph's tic did not disap-
pear with his kindly sympathetic
approach. So Ralph's parents re-
alized they needed help in solving
their boy's problems. The Child
Guidance Clinic unraveled the con-
flicting feelings. Not only did
Ralph’s tic then disappear but he
became a mucji more relaxed, hap-
