of the University, out of the hx in Foar Innings. J ohiso1n, the
pitcher who beat Vanderbilt last year in the Texas-Vanderbilt
game, succeeded him and held the High Scliool to one hit.
A. H. S., 2; SCRUBS, 7.
This tells the tale of the High School's firtt defeat. After
another week of waiting, during which not a single member of the
team touched a ball, the team played the University Scrubs and
were, consequently, "romped on." Buaas sent Taff in to pitch and
he himself went into right field, where he made himself notorious
by getting his feet tangled up and letting in three runs in the first
inning.
Cousins and Frenzel also helped the Scrubs by making four
errors apiece, most of which came at critical times.
Except for a little wildness in the first two innings, due to stage
fright, Taff pitched a good game, holding the Scrubs to five hits.

A. H. S., 2; MANOR, 7.
With a team composed of seven High School players and two
men who had to be picked when the time came to leave and the
team could wait no longer, the team was defeated in a game played
almost as badly as the Scrub game, by the score of 7 to 2.
Buaas pitched a good game and deserved to win, but his helpers
fell down at critical moments and the game went up in the smoke.
The High School made only one hit, < sereteh Iv Frenzel in the
sixth, off a seemingly easy pitcher.
A. H. S., 10; EAST AUSTIN, 5.
In an uninteresting game the High School defeated a pieke]
team from East Austin by the above score. Batteries-Buaas and
