Rev. E. B. Crump of Waxahachie
will be the principal speaker at the
dedication service of the new As-
sembly of God parsonage on Sun-
day, September 24. He will also
be guest speaker at the regular
morning worship service at the
Assembly of God Church, corner
of Harrison and Illinois streets.
Rev. Crump is presently district
secretary-treasurer of Texas Dis-
trict Council of Assemblies of God.
He served as pastor here for about
nine years. During his pastorate
here a large number of persons
were converted and the church
membership greatly increased. He
was very well liked by those of
all demoninations who were asso-
ciated with him. He has returned
here on several occasions.
A basket lunch will be served
at 12:45 on the church lawn, weat-
her permitting, "according to Rev.
G. W. Risner, pastor. The dedi-
cation service will begin at 2:30.
Verbena Group
The Verbena Group of the Gar-
den Club met on Thursday after-
noon at the home of Mrs. Allen
Yates. Roll-call was answered with
"Tipj> and Hints to Gardeners.”
Mrs. T. C. Stockton gave a very
interesting talk on "How to Cap-
ture the Fragrance of Summer.”
Mrs. Fulton discussed "Beauty by

The Dahlia Group of the Electra
Garden Club met on Thursday af-
ternoon at the home of Mrs. J. C.
Denny with Mrs. Edd Forbes as
co-hostess.
Mrs. Tom Daugherty, president,
presided during the business ses-
sion. The group voted to keep the
yearbook schedule as it is. Roll
call was answered with “tips and
hints to gardeners.”
Mrs. J. D. Morris was program
chairman. She presented Mrs. E.
E. Coleman who gave a very in-
teresting talk on "How to Capture
the Fragrance of Summer,"- A
very interesting topic, "Beauty by

The directors of the Wichita
County Farm Bureau met Mon-
day night in the office at Iowa
Park to complete selection of com-
munity captains for the forthcom-
ing fall membership drive which
will be kicked off by a radio ad-
dress by J. Walter Hammond,
State Farm Bureau president and
other County Farm Bureau presi-
dents, the morning of Oct. 10. A
proclamation signed by Governor
Allen Shivers designated the week
■of Oct. 10-17 as Texas Farm Bu-
reau Wteek. Lane Beaty, farm edi-
tor will act as master of ceremon-
ies. Present Monday night were
Arthur Evert and H. F. Vaughn
of Burkburnett, Solo Downing and
Max Carpenter of Wichita Falls,
T. H. Eckdkamp of Electra, H. B.

Conyers and Ben Tipton, vice
presidents; W. W. Oliver, secre-
tary; Clifton Waggoner, treasur-
er; A E. Rapp, reporter.
Mrs. Allen Dale Kemple was
a new member.
Mrs. Waggoner was program
chairman. She introduced Mrs. M.
L. Wilson who gave a very inter-
esting talk on "How to Capture
the Fragrance of Summer.” Mrs.
W. W. Oliver gave a talk on
"Beauty by the Bulb.”
Lovely arrangements of dah-
lias and marigolds were used in
the living roojn.
A lovely salad course was serv-
ed buffet style to the above men-

ols, W. A. Gault, Wade Bailey, E.
L. Boone and C. L. Simmons,

Den 2 of Cubscouts met on
Tuesday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Sam McBride, den mother.

Jerry Barber, song leader; Larry
Sheldon, yell leader
Paul Gene Goodman,
member was welcomed

The boys were encouraged to
finish their pioneer trail exhibits.

Mr. and Mrs Joel Ray Corder
of Electra announce the engage-
ment and approaching marriage of
their daughter, Patsy Rae, to Mr.
Buel- Norman Fullerton, son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Fullerton, also
of Electra.
The wedding is being planned
for Sunday, Oct 22, at the First
Baptist Churc with Rev. Loyd
Lester, pastor, officiating.
The bride-elect is the grand-
daughter of the late A. B. Corder,
former mayor and school superin-
tendent of Electra. She graduated
from Electra High School, attend-
ed North Texas State College, and
has been employed the past two
and a half years as bookkeeper at
the Electra Machine Shop.
The groom graduated from high
school at Holliday and attended
Oklahoma A&M prior to serving
two and a half years in the Army
in World War Two. during which
time he served a year and a half
in the Philippines. After returning
from the service, he attended the
University of Oklahoma where he
majored in petroleum engineering.
He is now employed in < the oik
field. * -'ll-

The Alathean Sunday School
Class of First Baptist Church held
their social in their newly decorat-
ed room Monday night.
The receiving line included Mes-
dames Jodie Smith, teacher; Ned
Huguelet, assistant teacher; Jack
Jordan and Noble Stidham. Mrs.
J. T. Huey, social chairman, was
in charge. She introduced Mrs.
Jordan, president, who gave her
annpal report and in turn present-
ed retiring officers who gave th'eir
reports. Those who gave reports
were Mesdames J. L. Clayton, first
vice president; J. T. Huey, second
rice president; Arthur Glass, third
vice president; W. M. Edwards,
fourth vice president; Noble Stid-
ham gave the secretary's report
in her absence.
Mrs. W. R. Skinner presented
the dedication service. The class
recently redecorated their room in
memory of Mrs. Browneyes Pres-
ton. A bronze plaque was hung in
memory of Mrs. Preston.
Rev. Loyd Lester, pastor, in-
stalled the new officers using a
very impressive "lighthouse”
theme. The following officers
were installed: Mrs. J. L. Clay-
ton, president; Clifton Brock, first

Meet Sept «28.
The Pack 45 committee met
Tuesday night. Plans were made
to erect tables^for the exhibit
which will be held on pack night,
Sept. 28, at 7:30 p. m. at the Com-
munity Center.
Each den is making an adobe
Indian village to exhibit at the
regular monthly pack night meet-
ing.
A den mother’s training course
will be held at the Communnity
Center from 9:30 to 11:00 a m.
each Thursday beginning Oct. 5
through Oct. 26. Earl Newton,
council head of the Comanche dis-
trict, will conduct the course.
Every den mother and all inter-
ested parents are urged to attend.
Phillip Holman was elected roll
call officer. He will call the roll
at each pack night meeting.
Plans were discussed for an “all
out” membership drive beginning
Oct. 1-26. A prize will be given to
the den which secures the most
new members during the drive
