amount, please return it in-
dicating the date the pay-
ment was made and where it
was sent If your check has
been returned by your bank
show the numbers or other
identification put on the check
when it was deposited by IRS.
A) If you account to your
employer for those expenses,
you will not have to report
them on your tax return. An
exception occurs when your
reimbursement exceeds your
expenses. The excess then
should be reported as income.
Employees who are not re-
imbursed for business ex-
penses may claim a deduction
for them on their tax return.

this subject, send a post card

Q) My store is up for sale
and one person who wants to
buy it has offered to make
a down 'payment and to pay
the rest in three years. Can
I save on taxes by having the
money spread like that?
A) There could be a tax ad-
vantage of reporting profits
from a sale over a period of
years. Whether it will benefit
you depends on your tax
bracket and other income.
To qualify for this tax
treatment, however, the pay-
ments you receive during the
first year must not exceed 30
percent of the sales price.

Mrs. N. M, Baird hosted the
Anna Rowe Circle in her
home on Jan. 4 for the first
meeting of the new year.
The newly elected circle
chairman, Mrs. O. I. Cole,
conducted the meeting which
she opened with the reading
of a poem, "My Life," by
John Bannister Tapp. Silent
prayer followed the poem.
Projects were discussed for
which the women wish to pur-
sue in 1971. Pledges were
made and handed to Mrs.
Slaton, circle chairman. Re-
ports were given by several
members on visits to the sick
and shut-ins.
Offering of the Least Coin
was.made .and Mrs. Bill Robb
dedicated it with prayer.
Names of missionaries to be
remembered and places in
which they serve were read
by Mrs. D. R. Preston who
led in prayer for them.
The circle members will
study the book of Ecclesiastes
this year. Mrs. Jesse Iwig in-
troduced the study and based
her discussion of Ecclesiastes
3:1-8. "Learning To Tell Time”
was the theme of the lesson.
She was assisted by members
who read scriptures.
In attendance were Mmes
0. I. Cole, D. R. Preston,
Jesse Iwig, Charles Hudson,
W. P. Slaton, Bill Robb and
N. M. Baird.

Q) A couple of days after I
paid'my tax bill I got another
notice on it. What should I do?
A) The latest notice you re-
ceived was probably issued
before the payment was cred-
ited to your account. In a
case like yours where the pay-
ment was made a few days
before receiving a notice, ig-
nore it.
If you receive another bill
for payment of the same
Q) The income tax sur-
charge expired in June. Does
that mean money earned this
fall is not subject to it?
A) The. income tax sur-
charge applies to all income
earned in 1970. Withholding
by employers for the sur-
charge, however, was stopped
in July.
When the surcharge was
due to expire last December,
it was extended by Congress
to June 30, 1970 at a reduced
rate of 5 per cent. That means
the rate for the 1970 calendar
tax year is 2% percent.
Mrs. Fred Huffstutler was
