The World War I Barracks
and Auxiliary will meet Monday
night, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. in the
VFW Hall to install officers of
the auxiliary and nominate of-
ficers for the barracks.
The auxiliary will have an ex-
change of gifts during the meet-

A local youth was fined $200
in City Court this week for speed
ing and reckless driving, accor-
ding to Police Chief C. B. Tho-
mas.
The youth ran a red light and
a stop sign before being appre-
hended by authorities.
Police Chief Thomas announ-
, ced that two police cars are in
operation by his department in
an effort to stop the rash of
reckless driving and speeding in
the city. ‘We must put a stop
to it before someone is killed,”
the chief stated.
In other news from the police
department this week two auto-
mobile accidents were reported.
Autos driven by Mrs. John Sto-
ry and Mrs. Bill Lincoln collided
at the comer of Roosevelt and
Main, and Mrs. John F. Bentley
and Rev. Alfred Dorsett were
driving vehicles which collided
on North Wichita Street, accor-
ding to the report.
Injuries were said to have
been treated at the Electra
Hospital. No hospital admissons
were reported.

Mrs. W. P. Colwell read the
names of missionaries on the
prayer calendar and led in pray-
er. Minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved. Mrs.
Walton announced the circle
was to help with the Sunbeam
Christmas Party.
Bible study from Joshua 15
and 16 was presented by Mrs.
Nowlin. She closed the meeting
with prayer.
Christmas gifts were exchan-
ged and refreshments were ser-
ved to two guests, Mrs. Bobby
Henry and Mrs. J. A. Patty,
and Mmes Walton, Colwell, Cla-
ra Whirlow, MJyrtle Holder, W.
E. McCartey, Paul Parson, O.
B. Bishop, Lee Roy Reynolds,
R. R. McClung, O. M. Cook,
A. Jones and" Nowlin.
Plans-for the annual Christ-
mas Party to be held Thursday,
Dec. 19, were made when mem-
bers of the Ladies VFW Auxili-
ary met Thursday night.
The party is for VFW Auxili-
ary members, Post members
and their families. All are ur-
ged to attend. Guests for the
business meeting were Mrs. Jo
Ann Reid of 'Bowie, District 15
president; Gertrude Surratt of
Bowie, District 15 secretary, and
Mrs. Lydia Horton of Iowa Park,
auxiliary treasurer.
Christmas baskets have been
placed in various local grocery
stores, and any donations of
food items will be appreciated.
The baskets will be distributed
to deserving families.
Next meeting of the group •
will be Thursday, Jan. 2, 1969,
it was announced.

Members of the Electra Mu-
sic Club held their annual Christ-
mas program on Monday, Dec.
9, in .'the home of Mrs. ”E. V.
Haltoin with Mmes Hemby, Da-
le Wingrove and Jack Helzl-
souer as co?hostesses. <
Mrs. Neva Marchant, presi-
dent,*^ welcomed members and
gqests, Mrs. Linda Sellers, Miss
Sherry Whitman, Miss Melinda
Mengwasser and Mrs.. Nan-Whi-
te.
During the business session
a committee was appointed for
the Christmas basket, and the
next meeting was slated Jan. 13
rather than Jan. 6.
Mrs. Glen Wilson, program
chairman, introduced Mrs. Wes
Martin, choral dfiector of the
Electra Schools, who sang “Ye-
su Bambino” accompanied by
David Diebold. '
An organ solo, ‘He Shall Feed
His Flocks,” was presented by
Mrs. Olen Smith, and- Mmes
Neil Davis and E. V. Halton
played an organ and piano duet,
“Oh Holy Night.”
‘‘Silver Bells” by Livingston
Evans was sung by a vocal
trio, Mmes Carl Davis, C. A.
Mengwasser and Dale Wingrove,
accompanied by Mrs. Gilbert:
Beebe. The choral group enter-
tained with ‘‘Go Tell It On The
Mountain” by Wilson and Ehret,
and “A Christmas Folk Song”
by Gardner. This group was di-
rected by Mrs. Haltom and and
accompanied by Mrs. Beebe.
Refreshments were served to
the above named and Mmes G.
B. Crow, Dewey Dovel, B. O.
Enloe, S. B. Faulkner, Jim
Fowler, C. A. Grisham, Ed Hart,
Weldon Snodgrass, Jim Totten,

Twentieth Century Club mem-
bers assembled in the home of
Mrs. W. G. Etheredge on Wect
nesday afternoon, Dec. 4, at 2:30
p.m.' for an afternoon of study.
Mrs. J. R. Brown, vice pre-
sident, conducted the business
session in the absence of Mrs.
Walter- Blevins, ;, club president.
The program chairman, Mrs.
Ed Hart,' discussed?, the work in
progress on the floors of oceans
and seas with informaoitr. taken
from the National Geographic
magazin^, -'including the daily
lives of the people who toil on
these projects.
Mrs. den Smith discussed
how oceans assist man in his
various activities noting* that
water is most important in eve-
ryday life. She also discussed
how persons should cope with
problems concerning water and
its use and control, now and in
the future.

A brief statement of the natu-
re of this suit is as follows, to-
wit:
After alleging jurisdiction,
Plaintiff further alleges that he
and defendant were married on^
or about November 15, 1963 and
continued to live together as hus-
band and wife until on or about
March, 1966 when by reason of
cruel, harsh and tyrannical treat-
ment on the part of the Defen-
dant toward this Plaintiff, wit-
hout cause or provocation, was
of such a nature as to render
their further living together in-
supportable; that there was one
child bom of this marriage and
Defendant is a fit and proper
person to have care, custody
and control of said child, and
that there is no community pro-
perty.
