Electra Police Department will begin stricter enforcement of
the ordinance pertaining to junked vehicles as a public nuisance
on November 1. The ordinance defines a junked vehicle as “a
vehicle that is inoperative or does not have a lawfully affixed
unexpired license plate, or a valid inspection certificate, or is .
wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, or discarded, or that
remains inoperable for a continuous period of more than 45 days”;
provides that "a junked vehicle located in a place where it is visible
from a public place or public right of way is considered a public
nuisance, and calls for “a fine not to exceed $200” for a person
who commits a violation of the ordinance.
