will hold a public hearing in Electra City Hall,
located at 101 H. Main,
at their regularly scheduled meeting
April 11, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.
The hearing will be held to receive public
comment regarding the Electra Chamber of
Commerce's request for hotel/motel tan
money to promote the 23rd annual
Electra Goat Barbecue and Craft Show
to be held on May 12th and 13th, 2006
which is intended to increase tourism.
The budgeted monies will be spent
on administrative, advertising and
promotional expenses. The Hotel/Motel Tan
Board has recommended enpenditures
not to exceed $1,200.00.
The public is invited to

reviewed the quarterly Quality
Assurance Report. Roger
Sanford reported on the texas
Healthcare Trustees meeting he
attended in Dallas.
In her report to the board,
CEO Jan Reed, said the Hospital
had been awarded a $40,000
healthcare technology grant
from the Office of Rural and
Community Affairs (ORCA).
There were 38 applications but
only four grants were awarded.
The funds will be used to
purchase a new mainframe
computer and radiology
software.

SPECIAL GUESTS-Students and their dads and guests learned great math games last
week as part of a program to involve dads in the education of their children. Mike Hall of
Strong Fathers was in charge of the program. Male role models were especially encouraged
to attend the event since research shows that children get a better educaiton when fathers are
involved. Guests who attended were Dusty Patterson, Benny Bowden, Claude McClellan,
Donna Bowden, Vic Grey and Charlie Smith.

Twenty-one high school students participated in the District
UIL Academic Meet held this past week at Midwestern State
University. Events were held on Wednesday and Thursday
afternoons. Events and students participating includes: Calculator

Acuna, Sateven Adams, John Castorena, Jeremy Fennell, Feature
Writing-Brittany Reinhardt;Headline Writing-Jessica Enriquez,
Donna Griffith, Matt Blalock, Kaylie Ward; Literary
Criticism-Jessica Enriquez, Matt Blalock, Kama Perez, Kelsey
Brightbill; Math-Kelsey Brightbill, Kaylie Ward, Gregory Cantu,
Danielle Shelton; Number Sense-Gregory Cantu, Kelsey
Brightbill, Luisa Escobar; Poetry Interpretation-Diane Neel;
Prose Interpretation-Kama Perez; Ready Writing-Kaylie Ward,
Donna Griffith, Matt Blalock; Science-Jacob Brown, Glen Idell,
Billy Idell, Bryanna Jimenez, Candace Scroggins, Danielle
Shelton, Spelling and Vocabulary-Stephanie Gonzales, Holly
Acuna, Jeremy Fennell and Luisa Escobar. Accompanying the
students were Superintendent David Thweatt, Principal Craig
Templeton, UIL Academic Coordinator Mrs. Sandy Blalock and
instructors Mrs. Mindee Thweatt, Mrs Betty Weiser and Bob
Donahue.
The OAP Cast and Crew competed in the West Zone
competition held at Throckmorton High School this past week.
They presented "Two Fools Who Gained a Measure of Wisdom
with Kaylie Ward, Kelsey Brightbill, Jessica Gentry and Jeremy
Fennell as characters. Donna Griffith participated as understudy
and crewmembers were Jessica Enriquez, Savana DeLeon and
John Castorena. Bob Donahue directed the play and Miss Jordan
Varela assisted. Mrs. Cookie Donahue also accompanied the
students to the presentation. The cast and crew will present the
play to the study body on Tuesday, March 28 at 2:20 p.m. in the
HHS gym.
The FFA Livestock Judging Team traveled to Tarleton State
University this past Thursday for competition FFA Advisor Russ
Ramsey joumed with Ysmael Salazar, Jimmy Henry, Kaylie
Ward, Savana DeLeon and Steven Adams to Stephenville for this
event.
Six members of the HJH Girls track team traveled to Archer
City on Thursday afternoon for participation in their meet. Coach
Katrina Price accompanied the following ladies to the event
Karmen O’Roark, Kassie Schell, Ashley Newton, Caitlyn Henry,
Haley Bounds and Kelsey Hendrix
Spring Individual Photo Proofs and Freestyles arrived at HHS
this past week. They were delivered to the students. Freestyles
were prepaid; however, individual proofs must be viewed and
ordered by Friday April 7 if parents and guardians desire the
pictures. No one is obligated to buy any of these. Price lists and
envelopes are included in the packet for parents/guardians All
proofs, purchased or not, should be returned to the school on or
before the deadline of April 7. Please direct your picture concerns
to picture coordinator Mrs Betty Weiser at HHS, 886-2213.
Seveal teams of FFA members will attend contests and
competitions this week on Thursday and Friday, March 30-31
FFA Advisor Russ Ramsey will accompany teams to Texas Tech
and West Texas A&M respectively
The High School Track teams will participate in the Aspermont
Track Meet to be held on Friday, March 31 Coaches Craig
Templeton and Bret Hudson will travel with the Hornets to the
competition
