Boat Tax Bills
Among the 110,717 separate
tax bills that have been going
into the mail to Galveston
County taxpayers in the past

assessor-collector, said Fri-
day he had received >ome
protests against the boat fax-
es— "but no more than I ex-
pected ”
Among those protesting the
tax was R. E. (Bob) Smith,
who with othe; c is develop-
ing Port Holiday, and is own-
er of the Galve-ron Yacht Ba-
sin.
Smith feel the tax will
cause rhe city to lose revenue
from boat owners to move
their boat- to Seabrook, which
is in Harn- County, or to
Freeport in Brazoria Coun-
ty, where the tax is not being
collected this year.
