Bro. Marvin Andrews brought
Bible study to 26 residents. The
residents really look forward to
Thursday mornings and their time
with Bro. Andrews.
Our cooking class decided they
wanted to be different this week.
They wanted to try microwave
popcorn, so we wanned up the old
microwave and tried it out. They
were all very impressed.
This week’s bingo winners were
Louise Bazzel, Bill Huddleston,
Ruby Montague, Clara Bloyd, Basil
Brown, Nancy Haile, Paul Cherry,
Edith Dickie, June Cameron, and
Mose Killebrew.
We’d like to wish a speedy re-
covery to James (Rufe) Otwell and
Charlie Nance, who are in the
hospital at this time.
We have also suffered a great
loss this week, Mr. Alex Rodgers.

CANTERBURY VILLA

The week of Jan. 5-11 was a time
of settling down and getting back
to normal.
The festivities aren’t quite over
though, as on Saturday, Jan. 17,
at 2:00 p.m. we’re planning a big
party. Mrs. Ada Rudell Whatley
will be a very young 100 years old.
She’s one very amazing lady and
we’re all very proud and happy for
her. We'd love to have all of her
family and friends come join in the
celebration.
The Northside Baptist Church
brought the Sunday School lesson
to 23 residents. Roland Swanner
was the teacher. This church
brings the Sunday School lesson
to our residents faithfully each
week. We really appreciate them
giving their time to our residents
each week.
The Trinity Worship Center
brought the evening service to 22
residents.
The Tuesday Night Gospel
Singers were in great form Tues-
day night There was * good ,
crowd present. Mrs. Eva Coley
who is a new resident in our home
and used to sing with the Gospel
Singers enjoys being able to sing
with them once again.

deductible, the amount a Medicare
hospital patient is responsible for
when he or she first receives
inpatient services in a benefit
period, has increased to 3520 tn 1967.
The 1966 deductible was 3492.
Also Increasing are the per-day
amounts patients are responsible for
after specific lengths of stay in a
hospital qr skilled nursing facility.
After 60 day* of inpatient care In a
hospital during a benefit period.
Medicare pays for all covered costs
except 3130 a day. The 1966 figure
was 3123.
For each reserve day, Medicare
pays for all covered costs except
3260 a day. The 1966 figure was 3246.
After 20 days of care in a skilled
nursing facility, Medicare pays for
all covered costs except 365 per day.
The 1966 figure was 361.50.
The basic monthly premium for
Medicare medical insurance is
317.30, an increase of 32.40 over the
1986 figure of 315.50. Some people
will pay more than this rate because
there were periods they could have
had this protection but did not
The monthly premium for hospital
insurance for people who are not
otherwise eligible is 3248 in 1987.
The 1986 figure was 3214.
The medical insurance annual
deductible remains at $75,
unchanged from 1966.

ary met at the F & M Bank Hospi-
tality Room Jan. 6.
Mrs. Ray Harvey brought a
timely devotional and led the
prayer. Minutes of the previous
meeting were approved as read.
Lovie Sides read the treasurer’s
report, in the absence of Thelmp

Caraway presented the report on
remodeling of the kitchen at the
Home Health Care Center. No
action was taken until another bid
is received.
The group voted to purchase
some items for the hospital kitchen
and also, two dozen hospital
gowns.
Mrs. Bittman reported on the
blood drive and urged more par-
ticipation in future drives.
Ingrid Lindsey, program
chairman, introduced Jerry Bush
from the Cross Timbers Migrant
Clinic, who spoke of the needs and
goals of health care in this area.
Dr. Bird was unable to attend.
Mesdames Marie Johnson and
Gladys Pittman, hostesses for the
meeting, served delicious refresh-
ments to 21 members.
