Barbara Ann McLaren of La
Marque, whose wedding to
Johnny Mack Glosson is set
for January. Mrs. Zelma
Hearn of Texas City and Mrs.
L. A. Avitts Jr. of Houston,
aunts of the honoree, were
hostesses for the entertain-
ment
Miss McLaren's pink two-
piece dress was accented with
a corsage of chrysanthemum'
and lily of the valley present-
ed her by the hostesses. Her
mother. Mrs. C. A. McLaren,
and Mrs. J. C. Glosson each
received a corsage of minia-
ture chrysanthemums,
A large all-white bridal ar-
rangement centered the re-
freshment table, from which
Cathy Avitts served coffee,
cherry punch, and individual
cake decorated with white
wedding bells. Sherrill Avitts
assisted the honoree at the
gift table.
Some 30 guests from Texas
City, Angleton. Houston, La
Marque, and Manvel attend-
ed. Ethel McCauley and Bessie
Collins were winners in games
played during the evening

day at 7:30 p.m. at the Alvin
Church of the Nazarene.

length dress of beige lace

The bride was attended by

of honor, and the bride's sis-
ter. Miss Carolyn Shifflett,
was the bridesmaid. Their i-
drntical gowns were of deep
purple satin .-tyled with round
necklines, long sleeves, and
formal-length skirts, accent-
ed with panel trains. Head-
dresses were fabric rosesand
veiling in matching purple,
and they carried white carna-
tions adorned with purple rib-
bons.
Miss Susan Goodrum of
Huntsville was the flower girl;
she wore a miniature bridal
gown with a flowing train and
carried a basket of white rose
petals
David Shifflett was the ring-
bearer, wearing a white suit.
He carried a white satin pil-
low trimmed with lace and
mock rings.
Melvin Scruggs of Houston
served as his brother's best
man. and De Wan Martin was
the groomsman. Jim Stinson
and Dale Oskerson seated
guests.
The mother of the bride
wore a rose beige lace over
taffeta dress, with bone ac-
cessories and a corsage of
pink carnations. Mrs. Col-
lins chose a beige crochet
suit with royal blue acces-
sories and a corsage of pink
carnations.
A reception honoring the
newlyweds followed at the
home of the bride’s parents.
Mrs. Ezra Driskell and Mrs.
L. E. Sowell were members of
the house party, and were pre-
sented with white carnation
corsages. Mrs. Donald Stout
presided at the bride’s book
at both the church and the
reception.
Attending from Alvin were
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ward,
Mrs. Dale Oskerson, and Miss
Lynda Oliver, in addition to
members of the wedding party.
The bride's table was
draped with white linen and
centered with an arrangement
of chrysanthemums andgladi-
olas flanked by white candles
in crystal holders. The punch-
bowl was placed at one end of
the table, and at the other
stood a four-tiered wedding
cake, decorated with wedding
bells and deep pink roses.
