writers see a screen on which to
place words, Addie sees a canvas
on which to paint a picture with
words,” said Dr. Jerry Nelson, the
teacher at Harby Junior High who
told Addie about the contest.

Many people dream of own-
ing coastal properties.
Some aspire to have a home
away from home for vacations
or long weekends, while others
move to the coast to be nearer
to family or when they reach
retirement age.
Eiving close to the water can
be relaxing, and it’s hard to beat
the fresh air and the relaxing
sound of the waves.
However, coastal homes re-
quire some unique upkeep that
prospective buyers should fa-
groups or individuals to sell
or share items, including food
vendors. Booths will be set up
along the trail near the bridge.

Salt water
Salt buildup is one of the
pitfalls of living close to the
ocean. Salt is corrosive to metal
components, so homeowners
are advised to avoid metal parts
in various areas of construction
on their homes. Windows and

because they face the constant
onslaught of Mother Nature.

Thompson: That’s a tough
question: the Bowie knife and its
namesake are iconic to our state,
but I wouldn’t refuse a good steak
knife if a nice meal was in front of
me! A number of resolutions sim-

but these resolutions do not hold
the same weight as a bill. Rather,
they are lighthearted nods to the
many people, places, events, and
objects that Texans are blessed to
honor and enjoy.
