5®CCER Report
The U-10 Wings played Thursday in Comanche against
the Lumberjacks. The Wings played a very aggressive
game, battling a strong defensive line.
Scores were made by Jeremy Quinn, Bradley Holland
and Deven Burch, making the final score 3-0 in favor of
the Wings.
The Wings played the last game of the season
Saturday in the rain against the Moo-vers of Comanche.
Although wet and cold, each and every player gave their
best. Considering the ball takes on weight in water, the
Wings did well to keep the ball on the opponents end of
the field for most of the game.
Andrew Garza managed to make two long hard shots
on the goal and get it past their goalie. Jeremy Quinn
did an excellent job as goalie, keeping the final score
Wings 2 - Moovers 0. The team is to be congratulated on
their first place finish in their age group.
The team consists of Richie Armstrong, Deven Burch,
Mandy Boswell, Donny Butler, Kim Ridens, Jeremy
Quinn, Bradley Holland, Kasey Bruton, Jennifer Reed,
Monty Skaggs, Toby Cogburn, Shell! Hammit, Andrew
Garza, and Cody Polvado, who was unable to finish the
season.
The Cosmos played a makeup game Friday night in
Comanche with a score of 0-1 in favor of the Moo-vers.
The Cosmos won on Saturday 2-0 against the
Lumberjacks. Cosmos players are: Tonya Braziel is a
good, spunky fullback; Lorrie Dyson plays fullback
quite well; Kenda Moon plays halfback successfully;
Kathy Schwesig is our cheerleader; and halfback, Maria
Segura plays fullback and halfback well. Jason Clark is
a forward with many soccer scores under his belt;
Michael Fields is an excellent goalie and forward who
has scored well; Jason Cogbum is quite capable
defensive fullback; Phillip Frank has scored well this
year and is good about staying in position; Keith
Hammon plays goalie, Fullback, and halfback with
equal ease; Mason Scott has the distinction of being the
most improved player; Douglas Spring is a first year
player who can handle any position asked to play;
WilliamWhitley is an enthusiastic halfback. Corey
Hammon and Tim Flowers play halfback and fullback
positions. These two players will be moving to a new
division for the fall season. We’re proud of our team!
The U8 Tornados game Saturday against the
Comanche Indians was called due to rain. The makeup
game will be played Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in
Comanche.
Due to an unexplainable error by the normally
flawless coaching staff, the previous game report was
not turned in. The coach apologizes to those parents who
searched for their player’s name in the paper without
success, and by submitting the report this week, will
attempt to make amends.
The Tornados defeated the Comanche Greenbacks by
a score of 14). The goal was scored by Josh Mahan, who
has had an excellent season as forward. Brad Bunting,
Jeff McGinnis, and Bryan Waller also were aggressive
at forward positions and kept the ball in Greenback
territory for the majority of the game. Clinton Hargus,
Shelby Swinney, and John Spencer were extremely
effective defensively at the halfback positions and
Clinton and John shared the most improved player slot
for the week. Derek Sides and Shawn Phillips played
well at fullback and were very consistent in defending
the Tornados goal, ably kept by Jerry Lee Floyd, who
denied the Greenbacks goals several times.
As the season ends, the coach Craig Waller recognizes
Alice Phillips for her help in coaching, the parents who
provided refreshments and supported the team, and the
players, the best kids he has had the honor to coach.
The Under-6 Sunrays won their makeup game against
the Pistols 54) March 30.
Scoring points were B. Holland, C. Golden, K. Ward.
Goalies were Courtney Golden and Brandon Holland.
Others playing a good game were Alex Zamora, Shane
Stone, Keith Ward, Shenna Chupp, Jason Phillips, Bryari
Skaggs
The Sunrays won 3-2 over the Golddiggers March 31.
During this game, everyone got to play every position,
and they did very well. Holland, Zamora, and Golden
made the scores. Goalies were Holland, Zamora, and
Golden.
The Sunrays lost 5-3 to the Golddiggers in the rain.
Playing as goalie were Holland and Golden. Others
playing weU were Chupp, Zamora, and Skaggs. Zamora
