As sponsors of the two watersheds,
the Comanche County
Commissioners Court and the Upper
Leon Soil Conservation District will
continue to operate and maintain
these structures to insure their safe
operation for future protection
against floods.

On Thursday afternoon, Ma 17,
Crown Pump and Stephen* Feed
both undefeated, met to deo* mine
who would remain undefeated.
Stephens prevailed 5-1 behind the no-
hit, 10 strikeout performance of
Cortney Golden. I^tnch Reyna
scored three runs and Toch Reyna
had two runs scored and a base hit.
Stephens Feed scored two runs each
in the first and second innings.
Crown Pump scored their only run in
the fourth inning, a base-on-balls /]
with Steve Stone scoring the run.
Stephens Feed is 4-0, and Crown
Pump 3-1.
In the second game, two hard luck
teams without a victory squared off.
Freedom Bank won over
Higginbotham’s IM for their first
victory. Lance Hardin had three
hits and scored three runs. Luke
Mix had two hits. Jason Pierson had
three runs scored. For
Higginbotham’s, Jack Pierce, Angel
Gonzales, and Albert Stevens each
had a hit. Hardin was the winning
pitcher. •»
On Monday afternoon, Freedom
Bank defeated Golden Peanut 7-6 in
an exciting game that featured the
year’s first home run over the fence.

Comanche County is
recovering from recent #
caused by the record breaking storm In the first inning, Dusty Campbell
which occurred on April 25 and 26. hit a towering three run blast over

Runoff from this storm caused
widespread damage to agricultural
land, county and state roads, as well
as homes and businesses in Sidney,
Comanche, and De Leon.
About one-third of the area
affected by the flood is located
within Rush Creek Watershed which
consists of eleven
retarding structures that store a
total of 30,683 acre feed of flood
water.
Flood prone areas below these
structures did receive damage, but hit two home runs in the first inning,
this was due to the fact that rainfall one a grand slam. Richards was
received in the watershed was
almost six times greater than the
structures were designed to control.
An on-site inspection, following
the flood, was made by the Soil
Conservation Service and the
Comanche County Commissioners.
The inspection revealed that all 11
floodwater retarding structures
