An informal gathering of young
folks met at the home of Miss Lucile
Riley because of the arrival of Mr.
and 5 frs. Dood Riley who are now liv-

A tiny son was bom to Mr. and
Mrs. J. F. Bodine at their home’* at
Iraan, Texas, on Thursday, March
26th at 3 a. m. The little one only
lived a short time. Funeral services
were held at Iraan Thursday after-
noon and the tiny remains laid to
rest there.
Two years ago another little son of
Mr. and Mrs. Bodine died at Iraan,
and is buried at Oliver Springs.
Mrs. Bodine was formerly Miss L.

Mrs. C. C. Miller’s daughters of Lib-
erty, and Hawley, who were visiting
here visited in the home of Mrs. Edd

The unprecedented cold spell of ,

tic for juniors. The spellers did not
arrive in time to enter. We feel sure
our spellers would have been among

Our boys won second place in all
track events, except one, and he won
third place in it. They entered in all
junior contests. We indeed fed
proud of our boys, thRTJefng the first
time to enter the interscholastic
League.
The girls track meet and singing,
and declamations were postponed un-
til this Friday, and Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. S. Farris and sons,
Windell and J. C. of Hambin, visited
„rs. Farris’ Mother, Mrs. M. New-
wn last week.
Mrs, A, Beaty of Loraine, spent
last week with her daughter, Mrs. Leo
Smith and Mentel Young.
G. W. Goodson and family spent
Sunday with J. A. Fincannon of Des-
demona.
Mr. and Mrs. Travis Partin and
children of Dublin, spent the week-
end with Mrs. Partin’s sister, Mrs.

ported a fine singing.
Uncle Billy Buse had the misfor-
tune to lose a work animal this past
week.
Saturday night and Sunday will be

J. W. Tarrance won first place in
chinning the bar. He chinned it 40
times—second place chinning it only
29 times.
Several other places were won" in
various events.
Sam Jones, a prominent teacher
and superintendent of Eastland coun-
ty was guest of Mr. and Mrs. Perry
Moring Sunday.
Miss Bess Underwood spent the
week-end with homefolks in Dublin.
The trustee election will be heki at
tho school building Saturday April
4, opening at 8:00 a. m.
Chickenpox is still raging in this
community. This making the fourth
week for it.
The home economic girls havu<ju«t<
finished up their woolen projects and
will start on their silk problems this
week. They have made several pret
ty dresses and other garments and
expoet to put them on display right
away.

time Mrs. Holdridge had made deli-
cious fruit punch which was served
at the close of the program.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reed have been
in Gorman,, where their daughter,
Mrs. Ford Reed is seriously ill in the
sanitarium.
Me, and Mrs. AnciL’Hill have with
them this week their sister,, the for-
mer Miw Rosilene Hill, from Abilene.
Utfle. Velton Setzler has been ill
with chickenpox.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lindley spent

Faye Dyson unfortunately wound-
