Dr. Samuel (Sam) Bomar Brown, a native of Silverton,
Texas, is pleased to announce the release of his CD, Great Is
Thy Faithfulness, which is scheduled for December 15,2006
The hymn tunes and sacred songs presented on this album are
some of Sam’s favorite pieces as well as selections often re-
quested by family and friends. They are performed in memory
of his late wife, Mary Catherine Brown, his loving companion
and accompanist for more than 37 years, and his parents, the
late Roy and Zollie Brown, who afforded him eveiy opportu-
nity to study Sam and Mary Catherine taught voice and piano
to many private students in this area. As an active member in
the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Sam’s stu-
dents have been consistent winners in both the district and
regional auditions.
Sam received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the
University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado (1982), the Master
of Music degree from West Texas State University, Canyon,
Texas (1978), and the Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor
University, Waco, Texas (1964) Faculty positions include
Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, West Texas
State University in Canyon, Texas, the University of Colorado
(graduate assistant), Bmilder, Colorado, the University of New
Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jacksonville State
University, Jacksonville, Alabama He retired from Jackson-
ville State University (1983 - 2003) where he taught Studio
Voice, Class Voice, Diction for Singers, Vocal Pedagogy, The
Art Song, Aural Skills and served as vocal coach for various
musicals and operas. While at Jacksonville State University,
he received numerous Faculty Research Awards and was named
Professor Emeritus upon his retirement He is now an adjunct
faculty member at Wayland Baptist University and lives in
Plainview, Texas
The songs on Great Is Thy Faithfulness are beautifully
arranged and performed, and will provide you many hours of
listening enjoyment. Sam arranged all the piano and vocal
pieces on this CD with the exception of “Psalm ofExaltation ”
In addition to performing the piano selections, Sam, a tenor,
accompanies himself on the vocals.
