We are glad to notice in the English pape
which show that the idea of a war between GrofU Britain
and the UnitwhShM^ was ar unpopular in that country
o m thfa At a meeting heW in Glaigow to lake into
comalertttion the state of British foreign relations, theacn^
wiv'nis express'd indtc^U’H anxious appreheusiona ofthe
event, us well as an eafob't desire to avert the threatened
caUmfy. rhe warlike preparations ofthe United Stater
are talked of there, with as much apparent alarm as was
excited among us by the armaments and foitifications of
:h« British along the Canada and Brunswick frontier.
Among the manti fact inuginlrrests of England the an x
jeer for the preservation-of peace seems to be strongest
