J. W. Ricks is now located in
Amarillo and reads his Canadian
Record at his offices in the Black-
burn Building where he is guid-
ing the destinies of the Townsend
Grain Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Burchett
of Booker were visiting at Joe
Haynes' the first of the week.
Mrs. Haynes and Mrs. Burchett
are sisters. Mr. Burchett is now
station agent at Booker. He com-
menced work for the Santa Fe in
Canadian about fourteen years
ago. He and his family were on
their way to California on their |
annual vacation.

Boyce McKey of Canadian wan
in Lubbock last Friday looking
for a farm location. Mr. McKey
stated that he was on a deal for
a farm near Plainview, but did
not like that as well as this parti
of the country, and after the deal
fell thru there he decided to come

Mr. and Mrs, John Moore were
in Amarillo Wednesday from Ca-
nadian, where the former is an
attache of the Santa Fe system, in
clerical capacity. Mr. Moore is
a poet-philosopher, as well as a
railroad man. He is a native of
the old south, and brings to this
portion of the southwest many of
the sentiments and memories pe-
culiar to his native state of
Georgia. Mr. Moore expressed,
however, the belief that this is
the greatest country in all the
world. He is greatly in love with
the Texas Plains.—Plains Short

On the afternoon of the 30th
Circle B entertained the ladies
of the Baptist Church and other
invited guests at the home of Mrs.
H. C. Ammons. The early part of
the afternoon was spent in sew-
ir.g for the Panhandle Orphan-
age. Following this, an informal
; program of music and readings
! were given. At the conclusion
! of the social hour, cream and
! cake were served. A large num-
: ber responded to the invitation
and it made the occasion a very-
enjoyable one.
