Sportsmanship
So far as we know Canadian
has always showed true sports-
manship in any game it attempts.
When we mention Canadian we
refer, of course, to the athletic
teams which are sponsored either
by the High School or any other
organization here. In return for
true sportsmanship, Canadian ex-
pects to be met half way. On one
or two occasions, and possibly
more, visiting athletic teams and
some of the rooters have dis-
played a warlike attitude when
the game went against them. Can-
adian players are in to win as
often as possible. They do not
want a fight, but if visitors come
with that in mind, possibly there

is a football game scheduled
Canadian expects to play football
and not enter a slugging match.
Visiting teams should take notice.

School Consolidations
During Dull Era
It was brought out at the re-
cent school superintendents meet-
ing that the public school system
of Texas must be revised consid-
erably in order to economize.
There is no question that tl'.e
school funds of the state and
counties are low and expenses
must be reduced to a minimum,
the same as in all lines of en-
deavor these days. Consolidation
of some of the school units is
being considered by the author-
ities. In a sparsely settled county
like Hemphill it would be diffi-
cult to consolidate many, it any.
of the rural districts as they are
so widely scattered. Bringing
all the pupils to Canadian from
many districts would have a tend-
ency to overflow the building"
here. It is certain no tax payer
would want to consider a school
building project in these times
