In the foreground workers are standing in a row of holes lined with wooden planks while other men stand and watch from the ground above. Behind them lumber and other materials are scattered throughout the building site and a ladder is leaning against the side wall on the far left. Towards the back several men are standing next to what appears to be a steam-powered machine and behind them people can be seen watching from the street above. In the background several buildings and automobiles are visible. A handwritten note on the front of the photograph reads "A. Rogers Photo 1-1-32."
