Funeral services were held
Tuesday morning for Mrs. W.
B. Blair in Cisco with burial
the same afternoon in Itasca.
Mrs. Blair, the former Inez
Buchan, passed away in Cisco
on Monday. She was a long-
time resident of De Leon.
Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Irving Addy of Cisco and
a son, Bill Blair.
Mrs. W. E. Heatly was call-
ed to Stephenville Monday to
be with her son-in-law who is
in the hospital.

The above picture shows one of the operations sometimes used in
digging coastal bermuda sprigs. The sod is first plowed with a
tiller or similar tool and then raked with a side delivery rake
as shown above. Then the sprigs are baled and are ready for the
sprigging machine. Although this is still a popular method, custom
sprig digging machines are being used in the De Leon area. At
least two of these custom machines will be in the area this season.
The main objective is to get the sprigs with as little exposure to
the wind and sun as possible with the sprigs as free of soil as is
practical.
