direction of Drum Majors Scott
Franklin and Vicki Ramp.
Bands in the "AAA" and
"AAAAA" will advance to the
Area competition in El Paso on
October 31, and will compete
there for advancement to the
State finals in Austin in
November. Next year the top
bands in "A", ”AA” and "AAAA
will be allowed to advance to
Area and State competition
This is the second year of this
format, adopted last year be-
cause the number of bands ad-
vancing to state finals became
too great to manage.
Class AAAAA bands from
this area competed in regional
in Lubbock on October 21.
The Wildcat Band won its
11th "I" rating in the district
contest last year at Borger, ad-
vancing to Class AA competi-
tion in vhe area along with
bands from Stratford, West
Texas, and Sunray. The
Wildcat Band made the trip to
State two years ago.
The CHS Band missed a
LIL Sweepstak s last year t r
only the second time in the last
eleven, but a "I" rating in mar
ching at Borger Saturday will
earn it the first leg on a 10th
Sweepstakes next Spring. The
Sweeps are awarded to bands
which earn top ratings march-
ing in the Fall and in Concert
and Sight Reading in the
Spring at Regional.

CHS Marching Band will seek
12th consecutive "I” at Borger
region at the Borger stadium,
beginning at 12 o’clock noon.
Thirty-five high school bands
and one Middle School band
will march.
The Pampa Middle School
band will begin the competition
with ten "A" bands, 12 "AA"
bands, eight "AAA" bands, and
six "AAAA" bands.
The Canadian Wildcat Band
will be marching at 12:24 p.m.
Directors are Fred Pankratz
and Jennifer Willison, and the
