Bears, hearts, red and white,
and lots of love was the setting
for the February Junior Bible
Club meeting held at the home
of hostess Pat Waters.
President Pat Waters opened the
meeting by asking for prayer
requests. Those were voiced
with prayer led by Ruth Wigley.
The roll call this month was
answered with scriptures on
“Submit/Submission.”
Additional members attending
were Jean Carrington. Shirley
Loveless, and Jean McCray.
Minutes of the January
meeting were read and
approved and the treasurer’s
report was given. Old and New
Business was discussed. Jean
McCray offered her home as the
meeting place for the March
meeting.
Group leader this month was
Ruth Wigley. She opened the
study session by reading
Re-elect JAMES CAMPBELL Commissioner
Precinct 3
I appreciate the confidence and support that you, the voters of Precinct 3, placed in me when I
was elected as your commissioner. If has been an honor to serve you and I have enjoyed the
opportunity to serve you. There were many needs in Precinct 3 when I took office. From those
needs 1 made a list of goals. Many of these goals have been accomplished. There were some that
had to be postponed due to the lack of funds. We will always have needs in our community and I
have a strong desire to continue the job when you re-elect me as your Commissioner.
Some of my accomplishments since becoming your Commissioner:
When I began my term as your Commissioner, Precinct 3 did not have County Bam. As soon as
possible after taking office I Had a county bam built so that we could service our equipment, have
a place to park equipment and be able to stock pile gravel and culverts.
When I began my term as your Commissioner, there were 21 wooden bridges in Precinct 3. With
the help of TxDOT. I have replaced 6 wooden bridges with concrete bridges and two more concrete
bridges are currently under construction. Two wooden bridges have been replaced with steel bridges
and eight of the bridges have been replaced with large culverts.
Equipment has been upgraded and the Precinct 3 employees work with me to do 80% of the
repair work on equipment.
I have worked hard for you to see that county roads are maintained properly.
I attend the Commissioner's Court meetings and use every resource available to make good and
wise decisions for the people of Precinct 3 and Delta County. The Commissioners are faced with
numerous challenges as they seek the funds to support the Delta County Library, our Fire Departments,
and the Delta County Civic Center. We are currently working on getting a grant to refurbish the
Delta County Civic Center. All of these areas, along with many others, are important to the citizens
of Delta County. 1 will continue to work to improve the quality of lie in our county. I will make wise
and responsible decisions about the use of county funds.
I have completed the required “CURRICULUM 2000” Training Series for Commissioners. This
training demonstrates my commitment to professional development as I continue to meet the demands
of this elective office. The Certified Certificate, presented to me by the VG Young Institute of
County Government is displayed a the Delta County Courthouse for public awareness
I have had two employees who have assisted in the achievements named above and I appreciate
their hard work on your behalf. I am seeking re-election to the office of Commissioner and I am
asking you to vote for me to continue the work we need to do for Delta County. I will strive to work
to continue to improve Precinct 3 in every way possible.
YOUR VOTE AND SUPPORT WILL BE APPRECIATED!
Early Voting Begins February 23 and Primary Voting will be March 9,2004.
