Drive to back of Elite Barber Shop building
by successful prosecution of Long's
underlings, the neat of corruption
which they claim surrounds the King-
flsh's political machine in Louisiana.
This strategy, they believe, if suc-
cessful, will prevent the Kingfish
adopting the role of martyr, which he
might shrewdly do, if the government
should attempt to make an income
tax case against him at this stage.
But if successful prosecutions of ihis
underlings are had first, the federal
strategists believe, conditions in Lou-
isiana would be so thoroly aired i.n
court by witnesses under oath that
the Kingfish would have difficulty
beclouding the situation by a pose of
martyrdom.
Many able Democratic prosecutors
were available for the Louisiana clean
up, but all were from the .northern
states. Texans in high places at
Washington pointed out that a "Yan-
kee prosecuted" sent to Louisiana
would be at a disadvantage So
Moody, militant, red-headed and with
a reputation already established in a
neighboring state as a foe of corru
tlon in public office,
Wright Matthews, of the Waahlaf-
ton internal revenue department—Who
dug up the evidence in the Louisiana
income tax cases, hails from ?*!■*
tine, and worked six years for Gov.
Moody's law partner. He probably
had a lot to do with Moody's selec-
tion, a.~ did Vice President Gamer,
Jesse Jones, Rep. Sam Rayburn and
Rep. Buchanan, of Moody's honto
district.

Gov. ,'mimic Allred wi'l make his
first extended visit outside ihe state
since his (.'lection 011 April 25, whci.
he rides as a passenger unon the
Texas Press Association's "Centennial
Special" train, touring the south and
visiting Washington. That is under-
stood to he the program unless the
legislative situation is such that the
governor can not leave. In that event,
it is likely that Mrs. Allred, the
charming first lady of Texaa,. will
represent (.lie governor aboard the
Centennial Special, which will bear
the official invitation to the president,
vice-president, cabinet and the coin-
gress to visit Texas in 1936.

Little Johnny on retiring on evei-
ing, was told by his mother to pray
for papa who was traveling, for little
brother who had measles and for
Bridget, the servant girl, who had
broken her ankle.
Johnny reverently included them
all in his devotions and then closed
by saying: "And now, dear God, j
please Uike good care of yourself, be-
cause if anything should happen to
you wt, would all be in the soup."
"Why are you looking so gloomy
this fine morning?"
"My doctor told me to eat more
fruits and their skins in order to get
more vitamins, and my favorite fruits
are cocoanuts and pineapples."
