poultry. She had the top electric
exhibit this year and a grand
champion pen of broilers. She
entered the State Fair of Texas
with broilers, winning a blue
ribbon. She also won a seconu
place in the district vegetable
production demonstration a t
Wichita Falls, ninth in state com-
petion.
The gold star recipient is sec-
retary of her county 4-H council.
Kennedy served as secretary of
his club for 1959-60, chairman of
the Stonewall County 4-H Coun-
cil this year, and chairman of
the 4->H camp at Buffalo Gap.
County Agent Hennig said Ken-
nedy has carried out good pro-
jects in sheep, swine, leadership,
electricity and poultry.
He won grand champion honors
in the county broilers show, and
his broilers in the state fair
poultry show won a blue ribbon
this year. Kennedy was on the
county and district-winning poul-
try team and took honors as a
high-place individual contestant.
His record book in poultry was
rather high in state competition.
Scholastically, he has always
been a "straight A" student in
DEL MONTE
school.
James Simmons, District 3 ex-
tension agent, presented 4-H
jackets to the top five club mem-
bers besides the gold star boy and
girl. They were Charles and
Helen Diers, Sharon Leverett,
Sanford Wooldridge, all cf Old
Glory, and Evin Alien of Asper-
mont. The district agent com-
plemented the county club on its
fine 4-H program.
Others on the banquet program
included Kennedy who served as
tostmaster, gave the welcome,
presented special awards and of-
fered the 4-K motto, pledge and
prayer; Miss Vahlenkamp, who
served as toastmistress, introduc-
ed out-of-town guests and pre-
sented special awards; Sanford
Wooldridge vice chairman of the
county council, invocation; Hen-
nig and Curley Hayes, of West
Texas Utilities Co. of Abilene,
presentation of 4-H program and
awards.
