Succumbs
Gregg Elvin Clifton, 73, died
at 11:30 p.m. Monday in a
Sulphur Springs nursing home.
The son of James Henry and
Mattie Gregg Clifton, he was
born in Sulphur Bluff on Jan. 25,
1900
Mr. Clifton was preceded in
death by his wife, the former
Alma Lindley, in 1970.
A member of the First United
Methodist Church in Dainger-
field, Mr. Clifton had lived in
Daingerfield for 38 years before
moving to Sulphur Springs six
months ago.
Survivors include a brother,
Jewel E. Clifton of Sulphur
Bluff; and three sisters, Mrs.
Roma Hedrick of Sulphur Bluff,
Mrs. Hoffman Moore of Mount
Vernon and Mrs. Loreta Stapp
of Ore City.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Wednesday in the Tapp
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Julian Thomas officiating.
Interment was in the Sulphur
Springs City Cemetery.

Rites Held
Rupert H. (Jake) Hale of
Dallas, formerly of Birthright,
died Monday morning in
Dallas.
Survivors Include three sons,
R. H. Hale, Jr., S. D. Hale, and
Jerry Hale, all of Dallas; two
daughters, Mrs. B. B. Walker
and Mrs. Tommie Harris of
Dallas; a brother, Dayton Hale
of Mt. Vernon; and a sister,
Mrs. Willie Cockrell of Mt.
Vernon, eleven grandchildren,
and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday morning at the
North Hopkins Baptist Church
at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bob
Morrison and the Rev. Fred
Kind officiating.
Camp Funeral Home at 4202
Live Oak in Dallas was in
charge of arrangements. Nep-
hews were pallbearers.

Funeral services for Lonnie
L. Bigelow, 77, of 323 Fuller
Street, Sulphur Springs, were
held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the
Morning Chapel Baptist Church
with the Rev. D. L. Ellison
officiating. Interment was in
the Denton Creek Cemetery
near Mount Vernon.
Bigelow was the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Luther Bigelow and
was born Aug. 9, 1895. He died
Friday in Memorial Hospital. .
A veteran of the Army Mr.
Bigelow was married to the i
former Myrtle Horton, who
preceded him in death.
