Sunday evening for services if this kind of arrangement were
satisfactory to the Dell City people. The offer was accepted
gladly and. during the months of October and November, even-
ing services were held in the Dell City High School Building.
Reverend Irby's services were greatly appreciated, but the
group was eager to have an organized Methodist-'Church. The
date December 5th, 1954, was set as the time to organize the
Church.
The District Superintendent, Reverend Irby, and several
people, members of the Fori Hancock Church met with the
Dell City group for the formal organization of the Church to be
known as The Dell City Community Methodist Church.
Reverend Turner gave an impressive message, Mrs. Dwi-
gans sang several songs accompanied by Mrs. Irby, The Dell
City people were very grateful to these two Fort Hancock la-
dies for their help.
When Reverend Irby gave the invitation to those who wished
to become members of the newly organized Church, forty
people came forward - some by Profession of Faith, some by
transfer, some by Vows, and five were baptized - charter
members included the names of Magee, Resley, Brown,
Travis, Trask, McLaughlin, Watson, Stallings, Young, Cooper,
Perez, Macaw, Martin. Present Charter members still living
in Dell City: Lutrick, Ziler, Grebing, Jonas, Foreman, Karr.

.... WE STILL have lots to be
thankful for in this now seem-
ingly slow valley of ours
.... and we don't understand
the plight and predicament
that farming has gotten into..
.... this land of ours has al-
ways provided an abundance
of food and fiber, produced by
a breed of Americans who ne-
ver shirk hard work and long
hours, yet the American far-
mer continuously gets squeezed
out, and as with most taken-
for-granted privileges, the
people will one day soon face
shortages in food and fiber if
the price that the farmer gets
for his crops doesn't increase
to meet with the cost of pro-
ducing their products.. let's
hope that before all the valua-
ble farmland turns into hous-
ing and shopping centers, that
the picture will change for the
vital American farmer.
speaking of being thank-
ful, though, we commend Dr.
Larry Hooper and his caring
for a young patient enough to

ialists, and then on to Galves-
ton, Texas, for immediate
