President Wood at 6:00 P. M.

Meeting was adjourned at

terms as State Legislator from
El Paso County, as well as be-
ing elected County Judge of
El Paso County.
He continued to be fondly
called Judge Bean. He served
as El Paso County Democratic
Chairman. Also served on the
Texas State Democratic Exe-
cutive Committee, on the
State Board of Education, and
was a practicing attorney in El
Paso for some 40 years.
Judge Bean was the attorney
for the original Dell City Tele.
Cooperative, and at one time
had an office in Dell City. He
helped bring the first telephones
to this community in the early
1950’s. More recently his love
for Hudspeth County was em-
phatically proclaimed when he
came to the aid of the citizens
of Dell Valley and Hudspeth
in their fight to prevent a low-
level radioactive dump from
being placed in the area. This
kind, generous effort was the
well-known nature of this

JUDGE WOODROW WILSON
BEAN, SR. passed away Sat-
urday, July 13, 1985, after a
fight with lung cancer. He
died at Providence Memorial
Hospital at 6:45 a. m.
Rosary services for Judge
Bean, 67, were held at 7 p. m.
Monday in St. Patrick’s Ca-
thedral, with arrangements
by Martin Funeral Home. Oth-
services were private.
Judge Bean was a native of
Hudspeih County, born at Fort
Hancock on August 28, 1917.
His roots go back to 1881 when
his grandfather, Patrick Mc-
Govern, came from Ireland
and located at Fort Hancock.
His father, James Breckenridge
Bean, arrived in Hudspeth Coun-
ty in 1900, B. Bean, as he was
known,came to Hudspeth Coun-
ty as a Texas Ranger and later
was a U. S. Custom Inspector.
Belle McGovern Bean, Wood-
row’s mother, lived her entire ‘
life in Hudspeth County. The
farm and ranch that were home- ,
steaded by the J. B. Beans in
1905 is currently operated by
Woodrow’s brother, J. B. Bean
s and his wife Ona Mae McAdoo
Bean.
., Woodrow’s father, J. B. Bean,
was one of three Commissioners

perintendent is J. Ed Grimm,
coming to Dell City from Ft.
Davis.
Mr. Grimm was a classroom
teacher for 10 years, and also
has been in school adminis-
tration for 10 years. His col-
lege includes Pan American
at Edinburgh, Superintendent’s
Certificate; University of
Texas at Austin, Texas ASM,
and Prairie View A8M Voca-
tional Certification. He re-
ceived is B.S. and M.S.
from Texas ASI at Kingsville.
Also to his record he atten-
ded Episcopal Seminary of
the Southwest 1 year when he
was thinking about becoming
an Episcopalian Priest.
Mr. Grimm's teaching has
led him to Woodshop and
Industrial Cooperative Train-
ing, Distributive Education,
Vocational Director at Brown-
field 2 years. He was Supt.
of Schools at Fort Davis for

Woodrow Bean Sr., who
combined color and candor
and a worry-free life into a
long., and storied career in
Texas politics, died Saturday
after a short struggle with
lung cancer. He was 67.
A nursing supervisor at
Providence Memorial Hospi-
tal said Bean died at 6:45
a.m.
Rosary for Bean, 67, will be
7 p.m. Monday in St. Patrick’s
Cathedral, with arrangements
by. Martin ",Funeral Home.

Sierra Blanca -The Hudspeth County Commissioners Court met
in regular session Monday, July 8, 1985, in the County Court-
house. AH commissioners were present: Leon Snyder, Pct. #1;
Lester Ray Talley, Pct. #2; Larry Karr, Pct. #3; Ray Collier,
Pct. #4. County Judge Doyle Ziler presided. County Clerk Pa-
tricia Bramblett recorded. Following is the business transacted:
Motion by Talley, seconded by Karr, carried, that emergency
lines be installed for the Ft. Hancock ambulance crew with cost
of $150. 00 to be paid from general revenue Sharing.
Karr/Collier, carried, that Eva Tarango be authorized to coun-
tersign county checks and execute any other documents which
are County Auditor's responsibility.

He was bom in Mercedes,
Texas, and grew up in Alice,
Texas. His wife, Ann, is a
Librarian, will receive her
Masters Degree from North
Texas State University in
August, 1985. They have 4
children: Bill, 22, at U. T.-
Austin, Biology and Coaching;
Sami, a Junior in High School;
Jamie, a Sophomore, and
Randy, 6th grade.
The new Supt. said he and
his family are highly impressed
with Dell Valley, and are
hannv to be moving here.
He especially enjoys canoeing
and playing softball.
We welcome this family to
our valley, and look forward!
to their contributions to our
school and to our community.
